It’s easy to forget about ION LANDS’ Nivalis, the cyberpunk sequel to Cloudpunk where you run your own business. Originally announced in 2022, the game was pushed back past 2025 so the developers could add full voice acting, and a new gameplay video shows off the results. We get a look at the voiced characters in action, including Ava, who joins the main character throughout the game.
The game features a diverse cast of characters, like Thaddeus Carminus, a seasoned cook at the Meridian Market, and Salt Pete, a local who believes the oceans of Nivalis hide secrets beyond just strange creatures and old technology. You’ll also meet Nixxy, a streamer who broadcasts live using augmented reality glasses. The developers have created a massive world with over 135 fully voiced characters, totaling around 200,000 words of dialogue, hinting at the game’s impressive scope.
During the demonstration, we see the player customizing their noodle shop, including creating a work schedule. The game also features a Relationship Matrix, showing how other characters feel about you, and offers beautiful views of the city as you begin playing.
That’s great news, but when can we actually play the game? In a recent Steam post, the developers at ION LANDS announced they’re in the final stages of development and are getting ready to launch Nivalis to all their fans who have been following the game’s progress.
The video is still a work in progress, with some details like the voice-over being finalized, and the current footage isn’t the finished version. However, it already does a great job of creating a strong mood and feeling.
Nivalis is scheduled to release sometime this year for PC. Stay tuned for more updates.
