Spider-Man’s 5 Strongest Power Ups

Spider-Man is Marvel’s most popular character, and a key to his success is his relatable power level. He’s a street-level hero, but one of the most powerful in that category. What makes him special is his ability to convincingly fight anyone, from common criminals and strongmen like Kingpin to teams of supervillains like the Sinister Six. While his strength can change depending on the story, it always feels appropriate for the challenge. Even though opponents range from the Punisher to the Rhino, Spider-Man’s abilities always seem consistent and believable.

Spider-Man is great because he’s both incredibly powerful and relatable. While he usually relies on strength comparable to a spider, there have been times he’s needed much more power. We’re looking at five instances where Spider-Man received significant boosts to his strength, allowing him to temporarily surpass his normal limits – and it’s always exciting to see what he can do when he’s at his absolute strongest.

5) Savage Instincts

Spider-Man’s abilities have always hinted at a more primal, animalistic nature, and that side of him fully emerged in Savage Spider-Man. After being exposed to a special mutagen, Peter Parker transformed into a monstrous creature – part spider, with extra arms and the ability to create organic webs. These webs weren’t just physical; they linked his mind to anyone caught in them. This was Spider-Man’s power taken to its absolute limit, unleashing his instincts and suppressing his human side. Usually, Spider-Man carefully controls himself, but this temporary change showed just how dangerous he could be if he gave in to his darkest urges.

4) Spider-Hulk

Spider-Man has, on several occasions, gained the Hulk’s radioactive power, most recently in the Immortal Hulk: Great Power storyline. This transformation dramatically increased his already impressive strength, speed, and resilience, making him a match for the Hulk. Like many versions of the Hulk, Spider-Man lost control when he transformed, becoming incredibly angry and capable of immense destruction. While the Hulk himself managed to restrain him, the fact that Spider-Man could even briefly contend with such a powerful being highlights just how incredibly strong this form made him.

3) Spider-Naut

In the “8 Deaths of Spider-Man” story arc, Spider-Man temporarily gained the incredible power of the Juggernaut, becoming known as the Spider-Naut. This made him just as powerful and seemingly invincible as the original Juggernaut. Along with immense strength comparable to the Hulk, he became incredibly durable and practically immortal. Like the Juggernaut, he could build up unstoppable momentum when running, allowing him to break through any obstacle. Spider-Man used these extraordinary abilities to triumph and demonstrated that his determination was even more powerful than the Juggernaut’s force.

2) Captain Universe

The Enigma Force is essentially the power of life, embodying an unstoppable drive for justice and heroism. When someone connects with this force, they become Captain Universe, gaining incredible strength and the ability to warp reality – almost becoming one with the very fabric of existence, which the Uni-Power protects. Spider-Man briefly became Captain Universe when Loki built the Tri-Sentinel, allowing him to easily destroy it. He showed just how powerful he’d become by knocking the Hulk all the way into outer space with a single punch. Captain Universe is among Marvel’s most powerful heroes, and for a short time, Spider-Man held that level of power.

1) Infinity Gauntlet

The Infinity Stones are six powerful gems, each controlling a core aspect of existence. If someone collects all six, they could reshape the entire universe, even surpassing the power of its original creators. While few heroes have ever held such power, Spider-Man was one of them, as shown in Avengers & The Infinity Gauntlet #4. In this new version of the classic The Infinity Gauntlet story, Spider-Man briefly gains control of the Infinity Gauntlet after Thanos’s devastating snap and uses it to reverse everything that happened. Though the other heroes didn’t even realize anything had changed, Spider-Man momentarily held the power to rewrite reality itself. He could have done anything he wanted, but his only goal was to fix what was broken.
