New Spider-Man TV Show’s Villains Officially Revealed (& Their Costumes Look Perfect)

Thanks to CCXP, we now have a clearer view of the villains in Spider-Noir, which is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Marvel TV shows of the year. The show, starring Nicolas Cage, offers a fresh take on the Spider-Man story. A recent trailer sparked a lot of excitement, showing off Nicolas Cage as Spider-Noir, Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy, and other characters. However, the trailer only offered brief, shadowy looks at the villains themselves.

CCXP attendees got a first glimpse of the characters from Spider-Noir, thanks to official event badges. A new teaser video has been released, featuring a twist on the classic Spider-Man theme song. It’s currently unknown if this will be the show’s official theme, but it sounds fantastic! You can watch the teaser video below.

Who Are Spider-Noir’s Villains?

As a huge cinema fan, I was immediately drawn to Spider-Noir. It’s a really cool take on the Spider-Man story, but completely reimagined for 1930s New York. Forget the bright spandex – this version is much more down-to-earth and focuses on what the characters would look like in a world of gangsters and powerful crime lords. It’s all about the details and the atmosphere, and they really nailed it.

  • Jack Huston as Sandman
  • Brendan Gleeson’s Silvermane
  • Li Jun Lee’s Cat Hardy (clearly the Spider-Noir version of Black Cat)
  • Abraham Popoola as an unknown character
  • An unknown actor who’s playing the part of Electro

Sandman and Electro, previously portrayed by Thomas Haden Church and Jamie Foxx respectively, returned in Spider-Man: No Way Home after first appearing in earlier Spider-Man films. This marks the first time Silvermane and Black Cat have been featured in a live-action movie. Silvermane is a well-known crime boss, and the comic book version of Black Cat featured in Spider-Man Noir owns a nightclub. Black Cat, whose real name is Felicia Hardy, is often portrayed as a complex character—sometimes an enemy, sometimes a love interest—for Spider-Man. It will be exciting to see how Spider-Man Noir interprets the character.

The costumes are fantastic, really capturing the feel of 1930s New York. A big question is how the villains in this Spider-Noir series get their powers. In the comics, Sandman’s powers came from radiation, but this show takes place before the atomic age. Electro’s abilities usually need high-tech equipment too. We might learn how these villains gained their powers, or they could already be established criminals when the detective Ben Reilly (who isn’t Peter Parker in this world) develops powers of his own.
