Supergirl Actress Joins Star-Studded Cast of The Exorcist Reboot in Secret Role

Director Michael Flanagan is working on a new Exorcist film and has cast an actress known from Supergirl, though her role is currently secret. The Exorcist series began in 1973 and has a long history, including sequels released in 1977 and 1990, plus two earlier stories told in 2004 and 2005. While The Exorcist: Believer came out in 2023 and even brought back original stars Linda Blair and Ellen Burstyn, it didn’t quite resonate with audiences. Flanagan’s new movie will therefore be a fresh start, essentially ignoring the events of Believer.

Director Flanagan has assembled a strong cast, and according to Deadline, he’s added Sasha Calle, known for her role in The Flash, to the project. While her specific part hasn’t been revealed, details about the movie’s overall story are also being kept under wraps. The only confirmed information is that this film won’t be a direct continuation of The Exorcist: Believer.

Mike Flanagan’s Exorcist Movie Has a Stacked Cast

I’m not at all surprised Mike Flanagan is gathering such a talented cast for his new Exorcist movie. It’s not really about living up to the original film’s history – the previous sequels didn’t exactly have huge stars – it’s about Flanagan himself. He’s quickly become one of the best horror directors working today, and his filmography proves it. I’ve loved his adaptations of Stephen King, like Gerald’s Game, Doctor Sleep, and The Life of Chuck. But he’s also fantastic with original stories – Oculus, Hush, and Before I Wake are all great. And I thought Ouija: Origin of Evil was a massive improvement over the first Ouija film – it was better in every way!

Mike Flanagan has a strong track record in television, known for popular and well-received horror series like The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass, as well as his upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie. It’s therefore fitting that he’s assembled a talented cast for his new Exorcist reboot, including Sasha Calle, Scarlet Johansson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne, Jacobi Elord, and Diane Lane.

Sasha Calle is quickly becoming a sought-after actress. She recently appeared in the popular Netflix film The Rip, alongside Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, and previously impressed audiences as Supergirl in The Flash. Next, she’ll be joining the cast of the second season of the Apple TV series Sugar, starring Colin Farrell.
