As a huge Harry Potter fan, I’m really excited about the HBO show! From what I’ve heard, they’ve got most of the cast in place and are actually filming, aiming for a 2027 release. But they’re still looking for someone to play a key character, and it sounds like a tough role to nail. Let’s be honest, following Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint was always going to be a huge challenge! It’s hard to say if the new actors will become quite as iconic, but I’m definitely hopeful. There’s so much potential there, and I’m eager to see what they bring to the roles.
The success of the new Harry Potter series is uncertain, but a key factor will be how well it distinguishes itself from the existing movies. One way to do this is by more closely following the books, and the first season could start by reintroducing a character who was left out of Sorcerer’s Stone. Luckily, the show has confirmed it will do just that. The challenge now is finding the right actor for this role, as it will be a tough one to get right.
The Harry Potter Remake Still Hasn’t Cast Peeves the Poltergeist

As a huge Harry Potter fan, I was thrilled to hear the upcoming series will finally include Peeves the Poltergeist! It’s been a long wait – the movies completely left him out, which was a real shame because he’s such a memorable part of Hogwarts in the books. He’s always causing mischief, and his presence is felt right from Harry’s first moments at the school. The director, Mark Mylod, and showrunner, Francesca Gardiner, have confirmed on HarryPotter.com that we’ll definitely see Peeves running around the corridors, and I’m so excited! They haven’t announced who’s playing him yet, but just knowing he’ll be there is fantastic news.
The new series will finally show Peeves, the mischievous poltergeist, causing trouble for new students, just like in the books. If the show follows the source material, we’ll see him cross paths with Harry, Ron, and Hermione during their secret nighttime adventures. He’ll also appear in future seasons, bringing all of Peeves’ funny moments from the books to life on screen. Finding the right actor to play Peeves is tricky, though, because he needs to be both funny and a little bit naughty. This is just one of the challenges the show’s creators are facing.
Finding the Right Peeves Actor Will Be a Challenge for the HBO Show

Peeves is a difficult character to play, requiring a very specific performance, and that’s just one of the challenges facing the new Harry Potter films. Originally, the movies did include Peeves, and they had an ideal actor for the role – British comedian Rik Mayall. It will be hard to find someone as good. Mayall filmed scenes for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, but they were ultimately cut. He later talked about the experience in an interview with Metro UK.
I was cast as Peeves, but I was asked to leave the set because my performance kept making all the child actors laugh uncontrollably. I did manage to film a few scenes and got paid, which was good. But a month later, I found out they’d completely removed my character from the movie.
As a huge cinema fan, I was so excited when I heard Ricky Mayall was cast as Peeves. He was absolutely perfect for the role – his brilliantly chaotic comedy made it easy to picture him causing trouble in Hogwarts. It’s such a shame he passed away in 2014, because it means we’ll never see his take on the character. It’s a real blow for the new films, and honestly, I doubt anyone will be quite as good. Still, there are a few actors out there who could potentially do Peeves justice, even if they don’t quite reach Mayall’s level.
Who Could Play Peeves in the Harry Potter Remake

If the Harry Potter series gets a remake, a few actors could convincingly play the mischievous poltergeist, Peeves. These actors all have a knack for combining humor with more complex emotions. Mark Hamill would bring significant star power, which the adult characters need. Simon Pegg, known for his roles in Spaced and The World’s End, is great at delivering funny and witty lines. Robert Sheehan from The Umbrella Academy is also a strong contender, as he can easily mix comedy with darker themes – and he’s already experienced talking to ghosts! Whoever is cast will have a tough act to follow, but that’s true for almost every role in the series, promising an exciting casting process.
We’re curious – who would be your pick to play Peeves? Share your thoughts in the comments and join the discussion on the ComicBook Forum!
