bitobit has released a revamped version of the classic 1988 game, THE NEWZEALAND STORY, now called THE NEWZEALAND STORY: Untold Adventure. It’s available on PC through Steam for a limited-time price of $17.99.

A Cult Classic Brought Back to Life
First released by TAITO in 1988, THE NEWZEALAND STORY quickly gained a dedicated following thanks to its unique setting, fun gameplay, and creative levels. Now, it’s back with updated features for today’s devices, but still retains the original’s beloved charm and feel.
A New Chapter in Tiki’s Journey
The original arcade game’s levels were designed with New Zealand as a source of inspiration. Now, Bitobit has created a brand new fifth stage, taking cues from the Kaikoura region in southern New Zealand, to pay tribute to the game’s roots.
Similar to previous areas, this one has four levels and a new boss – WORMAGEDDON, a massive creature created just for this updated version of the game.
Explore a completely redesigned map, a revamped health system, and tons of other exciting new features! Join TIKI on an incredible adventure through the beautiful and diverse landscapes of New Zealand – from dense forests and rocky shores to hidden caves and puzzling labyrinths – as he races to rescue his friends and the one he loves.

TIKI began as a surprise, showing that even a little hero can be incredibly brave. Inspired by the lasting memory of PHEE-PHEE and the strong connection he shares with other Kiwis, his story is full of heart and teamwork. It’s been updated for modern players, but long-time fans will still recognize the classic feel.

I’m really excited to see THE NEWZEALAND STORY back! It shows bitobit is serious about keeping old games alive and honoring the awesome work TAITO did back in the day. It’s cool they’re celebrating that classic vision.
The New Zealand Story aims to delight existing fans with nostalgia and introduce a fresh wave of players to the game’s excitement. What once captivated arcade players can now be experienced anew on PC, offering a chance for a new generation to discover its magic.
