Mark Grayson, the main character of the Invincible animated series, has faced many challenges, and season four promises even more drama when it arrives on Amazon Prime Video on March 18th. The new season will introduce a storyline that differs from the original comic books. In a recently released preview, Damien Darkblood, who has a more prominent role in the animated series, is shown battling through hell, and it appears Mark will join him on this dangerous journey.
The animated series Invincible has released a first look at season four, revealing it will expand beyond the story of Damien Darkblood to feature a wider range of heroes and villains. Clancy Brown will reprise his role, and Matthew Rhys, Lee Pace, and Danai Gurira will join the cast as the villains Dinosaurus, Thragg, and Universa. While most of the original voice actors are returning, Aaron Paul, who voiced Powerplex, will not be involved this season. You can view preview images of both new and returning characters below.

Is Invincible Going to Hell?

To recap, Cecil sent Damien to the underworld to conceal Omni-Man’s dangerous plans. Darkblood was trying to reveal the truth, which could have triggered a devastating outburst from Nolan. Though Omni-Man later lashed out trying to turn Mark against humanity, Damien remained imprisoned in hell. The post-credits scene of season three showed Damien speaking with Satan, hinting at an upcoming war designed to involve Mark.
Last year, Robert Kirkman, the creator of Invincible, talked about a storyline he originally planned for the comic book. He explained that the character wasn’t meant to go to hell in the comics, and that he and the team loved the character from the start, praising Clancy Brown’s perfect performance. They always hoped to bring the character back, and Kirkman realized there was a comic storyline he hadn’t used. He noted that many superhero stories feature a trip to hell and a fight with the devil, something that’s common in both DC and Marvel comics, but he hadn’t included it in Invincible due to other plot developments. He hinted that the show might explore this storyline, and that a scene at the end of an episode was intentionally setting it up.
Kirkman shared that this new storyline will appear in the fourth episode of Invincible’s fourth season, so fans won’t have to wait long to see Damien and Mark meet. Throughout the series, the supernatural crime fighter has worked as a detective, but this time he’ll also be wearing demonic armor.
