Capcom may release the next Mega Man game, Mega Man: Dual Override, earlier than originally expected. While a brief trailer shown at The Game Awards in late 2025 offered a first look at gameplay – hinting at a return to classic Mega Man style – it initially suggested a 2027 release, potentially 18-24 months away. However, a recent update from Capcom indicates the game could launch sooner than that.
Capcom announced they’re hosting a new livestream event called “Capcom Spotlight” this Friday, March 5th. The stream will showcase several of their upcoming games, including Mega Man: Dual Override. While it’s unclear how much gameplay will be shown, the game’s inclusion in the event is a positive sign.
What Does This Mean for Dual Override’s Release?
The fact that Capcom is already promoting Mega Man: Dual Override again suggests the game could be released early in 2027. Capcom usually doesn’t reveal games too far in advance. Resident Evil Requiem is a good example – it was announced last June and launched about eight months later in February 2026. While Capcom might not follow the same pattern with Mega Man: Dual Override, it’s likely the game won’t come out in the middle or later half of 2027.
It’s possible we won’t see much of Dual Override at the upcoming Capcom Spotlight event. Capcom might just mention the game’s return to the Mega Man series in broad terms, without revealing any specific details or gameplay. If that happens, it would suggest the game is still some time away from release. Regardless, we’ll find out soon enough, as the Capcom Spotlight is happening this Thursday at 5pm Eastern Time / 2pm Pacific Time.
