Please be aware that this article contains spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga! Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is nearing its conclusion after becoming very popular since it began in September 2025. This short manga series is a continuation of the original Jujutsu Kaisen story, created by Gege Akutami and illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki. It’s set 68 years after the Culling Game and follows a new cast of characters. The story begins when 50,000 Simurians – an alien race with powers similar to Jujutsu sorcerers – arrive in Japan seeking refuge. Initially, both sides attempt to find a peaceful solution, but tensions rise when sorcerers kill cursed spirits, which the Simurians consider sacred beings. Cross, the twin brother of Maru, tries to mediate the conflict, but is fatally shot by a sorcerer named Yakumaru.
The sorcerer claimed he acted in self-defense, stating Cross was going for his weapon, but this was a deception. As a result, the jujutsu world suffered significant consequences. Talks broke down completely, and Dabura severely wounded Yakumaru and Usami before issuing a challenge for a fight. Yakumaru quickly became a despised character among fans. Volume 2 of the manga, released on March 4th, includes additional details about the story and Akutami’s thoughts on Yakumaru.
Jujutsu Kaisen Creator Shares His Thoughts on Yakumaru

Jujutsu Kaisen creator Akutami recently joked about one of their characters, saying he portrays consultants in a negative light. They playfully apologized to all consultants in Japan. This comment comes from the latest volume, which is currently only available in Japanese, and was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the Jujutsu Kaisen news account @Go_Jover.
Yakumaru suffered a devastating attack from Dabura, losing an arm and sustaining serious injuries, but surprisingly, viewers didn’t feel much sympathy for him. After Maru completed the Harmony Ritual, the series didn’t show what became of Yakumaru. Maru was able to heal Yuka, Cross, Tsurugi, and Usami, but Yakumaru, the only other character badly hurt, was left out. Many fans believe Maru didn’t heal him, though this hasn’t been officially confirmed by the show.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Is All Set For Its Finale

The manga began as a short follow-up story, originally planned to last about six months. Twenty-three chapters are currently available, and the main conflict has ended without a definite winner, thanks to Maru’s involvement. Now, the story is focusing on wrapping things up quickly. A ‘Super Climax’ is scheduled for March 8th, 2026, but it’s not certain if this will be the very last chapter.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo currently has two volumes available, with a third and final volume scheduled for release on May 1st, 2026. While English release dates haven’t been announced yet, they are anticipated sometime in the latter half of the year.
