If you had access to magical spirits that could predict the future, what would you want to know?

Mackenzie Crook’s BBC Two comedy, Small Prophets, starts with a captivating idea: what happens when a man tries to uncover the truth about his girlfriend who vanished seven years ago on Christmas Eve? The six-episode series follows Michael Sleep as he searches for answers and hopes to find out if she’s still alive.

Encouraged by his father, he began growing miniature figures – almost like prophets – in jars within his shed, and surprisingly, they came to life. Then, with a push from his friend Kacey, he finally asked the questions that had been on his mind for ages.

But now that he’s armed with that information, what’s next?

Has Small Prophets been renewed for season 2?

As a huge fan of ‘Small Prophets,’ I’m desperately waiting for news about a second season! The BBC hasn’t said anything official yet, but the way the finale ended – with a clear ‘To be continued’ – definitely gives me hope. It leaves Michael and Kacey’s story hanging, just like it leaves me hanging, wanting more!

When could a potential Small Prophets season 2 be released?

With no prior release schedule to go on, this is a tricky one to answer.

We’d hope early 2027, but that’s just a guess.

Which cast could return for a potential Small Prophets season 2?

Okay, so everyone seems to agree Pearce Quigley is definitely coming back as Michael Sleep if the show gets another season, which is fantastic! But it’s got me wondering… who else might they bring on board? I’m already brainstorming potential cast members and can’t wait to see what they come up with.

Kacey and Michael’s relationship was central to the first season, so we expect to see Lauren Patel return as Kacey. We also wouldn’t be surprised if Sir Michael Palin reappeared as Michael’s father, Brian.

As for the rest of the season 1 cast, we’ll have to wait and see:

What could happen in a potential Small Prophets season 2?

In the final scene, Michael reveals, “I think I have to go to Canada.” He realizes Clea is the one who’s been manipulating events after discovering that Vic Wiffen, a friend of his father who had been writing to him and consistently asking about him, had been dead for years.

After hearing from psychics that she’d never return but would always hold him dear, he feels he has no option but to move to Canada. Kacey sharing her lottery winnings gives him the financial means to do so, but it’s unclear if the show’s budget will cover the move – or if he’ll finally get to see Clea again after so long.

Rumors are circulating that Kacey will be joining the cast of Neighbours, despite the show being cancelled and then revived last year. It seems likely her character will reconnect with Michael, though even the writers aren’t sure exactly how or where that will happen.
