Control Resonant continues the story of the Control universe while also starting a new chapter, putting you in the role of Dylan Faden as he investigates a paranatural outbreak in New York City. A key part of his journey involves searching for his sister, Jesse Faden, who previously led the Federal Bureau of Control. Unfortunately, players won’t be able to play as Jesse in this installment.
Be warned: the following contains minor spoilers about the story. If you’d rather experience it without knowing anything beforehand, please stop reading now.
So, I got the scoop from Hidden Machine – they were at a preview event just like me – and Jesse is definitely still involved in the story! Remedy hasn’t said if Jesse and Dylan will actually meet up, though. Honestly, she could end up being the big bad, or maybe they’re planning a whole separate story for her as DLC. But one thing’s for sure: you won’t be able to play as Jesse in the main game.
The game introduces Zoe de Vera, voiced by Frankie Kevich (who also voices Rinko in Silent Hill f). We’ve already heard her interacting with Dylan in gameplay footage, and it appears she’s the one who brought him out of his coma. Throughout the game, you’ll encounter not only familiar and new members of the Federal Bureau of Control, but also the few civilians still remaining in Manhattan.
I’m super hyped for Control Resonant! It’s coming out later this year on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. If you want to learn more about the combat system and how you play as Dylan, using his Aberrant powers to really wreck things, check it out here.
