For years, MLB The Show was the only realistic baseball game on PlayStation. Now, Konami has released a new baseball game that’s free to play, giving players another option.
eBaseball: Pro Spirits is now available for download. It’s the newest game in the popular and highly-regarded Pro Spirits Baseball series from a leading Japanese publisher.
I’ve been hearing a lot about this game lately – it’s been huge in Japan for a while, but Western baseball fans like me are starting to get really excited because the Sony baseball game just hasn’t been improving much. We’re hoping this will be a fresh alternative!
The product description claims the stadium experience will come to life with realistic movement and sound, all made possible by Unreal Engine.
The summary reads:
As a fan, I’m blown away by how realistic this game looks! They’re using Unreal Engine, and it really shows. Everything – from the way hair and skin look almost real to the incredibly detailed raindrops – is just stunning. It’s a huge step up in visual quality and makes the game so much more immersive.
Keep in mind this game is free-to-play, meaning it will likely play a lot like eFootball. You’ll probably spend most of your time collecting cards and creating a powerful team to battle other players online.
The game also features an exhibition mode, letting you play as your preferred teams in offline games. Just keep in mind that it won’t include Major League Baseball teams.
Sony probably isn’t concerned by this news, but having another company join the market is definitely positive.
Many fans feel that MLB The Show, which used to be a top-tier console sports game, hasn’t been improving much in recent years and feels somewhat repetitive.
Maybe this competitor from Konami will give it the kick in the butt it so sorely needs.
