The floor is yours, Rob Rausch‘s dad.
After Rob won season four of The Traitors, people online noticed he’s not the only handsome member of his family. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live on March 4th with his Traitors costar Maura Higgins – whom he ultimately betrayed to win the $220,800 prize – it was revealed that his father, 60-year-old Robert Rausch, is also very good-looking.
Host Andy Cohen was surprised to see a photo of Rob’s father—looking fit with a six-pack and graying hair after finishing a triathlon—and jokingly asked, “Would it be strange if Maura dated him?”
The 27-year-old shifted uncomfortably in his chair and nodded in agreement, then playfully told 35-year-old Maura, “Don’t do that!” without speaking aloud.
Although some fans would happily spend the night with the older Rausch, who is 60, most people who voted in a recent poll still consider Rob to be their favorite romantic lead.
The former Love Island USA contestant recognizes that being physically attractive likely gave him an advantage in building trust with the other players. He mentioned in an interview with TopMob News back in January that people often joked about his appearance.
But, he continued, “I really didn’t take it that seriously.”

Plus, Rob is now off the market after going official with his girlfriend over two months ago.
During the reunion of The Traitors, Andy jokingly told Rob that as soon as he became popular, he became unavailable, and Rob responded with a self-deprecating, “That’s just how it goes for me.”
Okay, so everyone remembers when Maura totally roasted Rob at the finale, saying he’d never find love if anyone ever saw how he played on The Traitors? Well, get this – Rob just said his girlfriend actually didn’t mind all the lying and scheming! Can you believe it? She watched the whole season and was totally okay with him being a master manipulator. I’m obsessed with this whole situation, honestly. It’s amazing!
Maura shared in an interview with Today in March that she believes Rob’s girlfriend feels sorry for her, and that she genuinely likes her a lot.
For more behind-the-scenes secrets about The Traitors and its cast, real on…

Deception is a key part of the game in The Traitors, but players are randomly assigned as either a Traitor or a Faithful player. Starting in season two, contestants like Phaedra Parks and Kate Chastain had the opportunity to try and convince host Alan Cumming of their innocence.
The selection process is crucial, and Alan’s input is also very important,” explained executive producer Mike Cotton in an interview with Variety. “Choosing a ‘Traitor’ is almost like a job interview – we carefully consider everything before making a final decision. We aim for a diverse group of players, each with something unique to bring to the game.
The players didn’t initially know how many Traitors were among them. Cirie Fields, a winner from the first season of Survivor, explained to TopMob News in 2023 that they were told at the start of the game there could be three to five Traitors.

Players were also asked to take the Traitor’s oath, which involved promising to lie, deceive, and even eliminate other players each night. They also had to pledge to keep both their own identity and the identities of other players hidden.

To get a sense of who might be good at deceiving others, the show uses a personality test for the contestants. As Cotton Variety explained, this helps identify traits that could make someone a convincing liar. However, the producers don’t actually know who the ‘Traitors’ are until the very moment Alan Carr secretly selects them.

Alan Cumming was thrilled to accept the over-the-top role and even bring his dog to work. He told The Daily Beast in 2023 that when he first heard the pitch, he envisioned playing a character similar to a James Bond villain—and that he wanted to include his dog as a playful part of the character. The producers loved the idea, and that convinced him to take the job.
While filming with his rescue dog, Lala, he fully embraced his on-screen persona, playfully quoting lines from the works of William Shakespeare and Plato. He described his approach as dramatic and improvisational. “I was really playing a character,” he explained, “and often making things up on the spot. Sometimes, they’d even feed me lines through an earpiece, which felt a lot like doing stand-up comedy – you’re just thinking on your feet.”

While the actors filmed at the beautiful Ardross Castle in Scotland, they didn’t get to live there during filming.
Cumming told the Daily Beast that none of the cast and crew stayed at the castle itself. Instead, they stayed at the hotel near the Inverness airport. He personally had a room in the castle, which he used to get ready, though he didn’t spend the night there. He described the room as having a large bed and admitted to napping there frequently, but never overnight.

The show nearly faced some serious production challenges. According to creator Marc Pos, he originally planned to film on a ship off the coast of Australia, with eliminated contestants having to swim to an island. However, he realized it would be too difficult and expensive to actually film that way, so he scrapped the idea.

Contestants didn’t have access to the entire castle. According to Cotton, who spoke with Variety, they’re using only a portion of it – a single wing – as the designated game area. They also have full access to the outdoor grounds and are free to move around there.
He pointed out that with room for around thirty bedrooms, complete privacy would be difficult. While people could spread out and talk separately, the space was still small enough that conversations could be overheard or someone could be seen slipping away for a private discussion.

It makes sense that Rachel Reilly, a former contestant on Big Brother, found car rides to and from competitions to be the best opportunity for strategizing with other players. She told Reality Blurred that “You’re separated, and nobody can hear what you’re saying,” unlike in the house where they “have to whisper.”

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve learned a lot about behind-the-scenes dynamics, and ‘Big Brother’ is no different! Apparently, strategizing in the hotel – that’s the area outside of the main game – was a total no-go. Dan Gheesling, a player from season two, explained to Business Insider that they weren’t allowed to discuss game plans when the cameras weren’t rolling. The reason? Anything important said off-camera couldn’t be used in the show, so they had to keep all the strategy for when they were officially ‘on’.

Chrishell Stause, from season three of the show, shared that the cast wasn’t allowed to have a hair and makeup team. She told Us Weekly that she would have loved to have professional glam services while filming in the castle, but Alan, the producer, didn’t permit it.

Getting everyone settled for the nightly murders is a huge undertaking, like a military operation,” Cotton explained to Variety. “They have to get the ‘Faithful’ into separate rooms each night, and then bring the ‘Traitors’ back out for their meeting.”
Even though Larsa Pippen and Marcus Jordan were a couple during season two of the show, they weren’t permitted to share a hotel room. According to executive producer Sam Rees-Jones, producers felt it would have given them an unfair advantage over the other contestants.

Despite the rules, Reza Farahan from Shahs of Sunset tried to add some playful mischief. He told Digital Spy he attempted to slip notes under contestants’ doors while he was supposed to be confined to his room. The notes jokingly accused them of past betrayals, signed ‘The Traitors’.

Oh my gosh, you wouldn’t BELIEVE how fast they work! I read that they basically film a whole episode every single day! It’s insane, but apparently, that’s totally on purpose. They do it to keep everyone completely focused and in character, like living in this real-life mystery. It’s super stressful for them schedule-wise, but it makes the show SO much better, you know? They start with breakfast, then plan the day, go on a mission, solve a murder… and then do it all over again! Seriously, one night they didn’t even get back to their rooms until 2 AM! I’m obsessed with how dedicated they are!
According to Cotton, who spoke with Variety, breakfast on set is carefully scheduled with actors arriving at different times. However, the meals themselves don’t last long—about an hour at most, from beginning to end.

Producers of reality shows likely limit alcohol consumption to keep contestants focused. Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, winner of Love Island and a participant on season two of The Traitors, explained to Entertainment Weekly in 2024 that contestants were only allowed one alcoholic drink per night, describing the rules as “quite restricted.”

Even though it’s often difficult to find genuine support from other players, everyone participating in the game is paired with a dedicated welfare team member. According to Mercedes Javid, a popular contestant from last season, these team members are constantly checking in on players, providing cheerful and professional care. She shared on the Just Sayin’ podcast that she always felt well-supported and looked after.

When it comes to building relationships on the show, contestants don’t find out who their competition will be until they arrive in Scotland. Casting director Deena Katz told Time that this is intentional – they don’t want anyone researching each other or forming alliances beforehand. However, once the competition begins, players are given information about each other and a journal to keep notes.

Cumming jokingly refers to himself as a “Traitor,” referencing a game where players accuse each other of betrayal. In a 2023 interview with the Daily Beast, he explained that in this game, someone could be labeled a traitor for arbitrary reasons – even something as simple as him patting them on the shoulder. He finds the idea of such baseless accusations amusing.
