Following online rumors this week claiming she had passed away, actress Queen Latifah confirmed she is alive and well.
Latifah, 55, shared a video on Instagram on March 5th to let everyone know she’s doing great. “I’m 100 percent A-OK,” she said.
She waved to the camera and said, “Don’t believe everything you see or read online these days. It’s hard to trust anything, isn’t it? But I’m doing okay. Goodbye.”
Queen Latifah, whose real name is Dana Elaine Owens, is currently healthy and prioritizes a healthy lifestyle. She’s shared that she made changes to her habits in the past to stay fit. The rapper and her partner, Eboni Nichols, are parents to a son named Rebel.
I knew I needed to make changes to improve my health—to feel better, get in shape, and lose weight—and to become stronger,” the singer of “U.N.I.T.Y.” explained to The Healthy last June. “I also realized I needed to educate myself about what being healthy actually means.”
Looking back, I realized I had some ingrained habits from my family that I needed to adjust. For example, we used a lot of salt in our cooking – it was just how we ate! But when I moved to Los Angeles at 23 to start working on Living Single, I began to really rethink my diet and make some healthier choices.

The award-winning artist was also motivated to adopt a healthier lifestyle because of her family’s history of heart problems and weight issues.
It’s been hard seeing how obesity has impacted my family, especially losing loved ones to it. I’ve realized how powerful it is when someone makes a change for the better and how much that can inspire others.
Queen Latifah is committed to taking care of herself, focusing on both a healthy diet and overall well-being.
She explained that taking baths is essential for her, especially since she’s been doing physically demanding work for the past five years – they help her recover and recharge. She also prioritizes walking, finding it’s a great way to clear her thoughts, boost her mood, and feel better overall.
Mediation and prayer are also on her list of must-dos.
She explained that taking time to pray helps her let go of worries she can’t control, which brings her peace. It’s freeing to stop trying to fix everything and simply trust that things will be alright, reminding herself that each new day brings hope.
