All Jujutsu Kaisen Characters Confirmed Alive in the Sequel

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is a continuation of the popular series Jujutsu Kaisen, set nearly 70 years later. Fans were eager to find out what happened to the original characters, but given the time jump, it was anticipated that some would have passed away from old age. This was confirmed early in the story with the deaths of Maki Zenin and Yuta Okkotsu.

Despite the events of the story, Modulo unexpectedly revealed that several original characters are still alive. The Jujutsu Kaisen sequel has, in its brief run, confirmed that six major characters have survived in some capacity.

6) Mahito

Although Mahito is physically dead, he reappears in the manga within the Pathway to the Soul – a realm where souls go after death. Because Mahito was created from cursed energy in a unique way, he continues to exist within this place even after being defeated by Yuji Itadori.

The character of Mahito remained largely the same, and it was good to see he still feared Yuji, even after his previous defeat. Their rematch delivered on a promise Yuji made to Mahito and felt like a rewarding moment for fans.

5) Ui Ui

Ui Ui was a very young member of the original Jujutsu Kaisen group, making his survival somewhat expected. However, what he’s doing now is surprising – he appears to be inhabiting the body of his sister, Mei Mei. This is especially disturbing considering their already strange and complicated history.

Honestly, Ui Ui is really disturbing me. He seems to want kids, possibly his own, to see absolutely awful things happening in the Jujutsu world – it’s like he’s encouraging violence just for them to witness it. It’s making me question what his ultimate goal even is. Part of me thinks we would have all been better off not knowing he survived, and I’m definitely not alone in feeling that way. It’s just… unsettling.

4) Nobara Kugisaki

Honestly, seeing Nobara Kugisaki back in action wasn’t totally shocking, but it was such a relief! It happened at the perfect time, right after we found out Yuji Itadori was still alive – and still the most powerful one out there, it seems. She dropped a huge clue about him too – apparently, Yuji doesn’t age normally like the rest of us, which is just… mind-blowing!

While her return was a nice surprise, the character doesn’t have a significant part in the story and has lived a quiet life. It would have been great to see her reconnect with her old friends, but one of them is no longer around, making that impossible.

3) Aoi Todo

While the sorcerers kept looking for Yuji Itadori, Nobara Kugisaki was the most likely to have useful information, as she was close to him. In a funny side note, she also confirms that Aoi Todo is still alive. She points out that Todo would be the best person to ask about Yuji, but only Yuji knows how to find him.

This confirms Todo is still alive, even though we don’t see him. Little details, like the fact that people still strongly dislike him, show he’s still very much the same character as before.

2) Panda

Panda wasn’t a sorcerer like a human, but a being created from cursed energy through a unique process developed by Masamichi Yaga. This means Panda doesn’t act like a typical cursed spirit. He’s always been distinct – not human, not a real panda, but something else entirely, more akin to a cursed object than a living creature.

Previous bonus material suggested Panda could still be alive, and the second-to-last chapter confirmed it with a heartwarming reunion between him and Yuji Itadori. Their conversation revealed they both knew what the other had been through, and that they’re still very close friends.

1) Yuji Itadori

One of the most fascinating parts of the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is what happened to Yuji Itadori – arguably even more interesting than the story itself. The sequel shows he’s not only still alive, but has become the most powerful sorcerer and a protector of the jujutsu world. Because he doesn’t age normally, Yuji effectively becomes a god-like being within the story.

The character’s appearance further fueled the excitement around him. The sequel’s ending also establishes that Yuji will be instrumental in positively reshaping the world of Jujutsu, a burden he’s likely to carry for centuries – possibly the next 300 to 400 years. This confirms the original hero of Jujutsu Kaisen is still alive and leaves the door open for his return in future spin-offs or stories.
