Sometimes, bigger isn’t always better.
Brazilian butt lifts are a good example of a cosmetic procedure that’s thankfully become less common, according to Dr. Terry Dubrow. He’s explained why he thinks this decline in popularity is positive.
As a lifestyle expert, I always want to share important safety information, especially when it comes to cosmetic procedures. I recently learned from a board-certified plastic surgeon on the Hot Goss podcast that getting a Brazilian Butt Lift – where fat is transferred to the buttocks – is actually the most dangerous cosmetic surgery you can get. The risk comes from small veins in that area which connect directly to the major vein returning blood to your heart, making complications potentially life-threatening. It’s crucial to be fully aware of these risks before considering this procedure.
Terry explained that accidentally injecting something into the bloodstream can cause a fat embolism, a dangerous condition where fat particles block blood flow to organs. He emphasized that this is a serious and potentially life-threatening situation.
As someone who keeps a close eye on trends, I’m definitely noticing fewer people opting for the Brazilian Butt Lift, and it’s actually great to see! Even stars like Stassie Karanikolaou are choosing to reverse the procedure, which speaks volumes. But I’m not anti-plastic surgery at all. In fact, I’m really impressed with how thoughtfully some celebrities are approaching and embracing cosmetic procedures these days – it’s about making informed choices and feeling your best.
According to one expert, celebrities are increasingly focused on consistent cosmetic procedures – even starting with things like early facelifts – to maintain their appearance over time. It’s about proactively preserving their youthful look, rather than just making drastic changes later on, he explained to Eyal Booker and Lonnie Marts.
Terry, who is a certified obesity expert, explained that the current popular trend – and what many celebrities are doing – is to do these things constantly.

Rather than have major surgery, many people in Hollywood are now choosing to have smaller, more frequent procedures.
He also appreciates seeing celebrities like Kylie Jenner—who has openly talked about regretting getting a breast augmentation when she was 19—being honest about cosmetic procedures, particularly for young people.
Terry, 67, felt the message was strong and clear: ‘I’ve had cosmetic surgery on my lips and breasts – please think carefully before you do.’ She emphasized that these procedures are much more serious than routine beauty treatments like getting a haircut or manicure, or even going to the gym. They’re real medical procedures that can have real complications.

As a parent, one of my biggest fears is my children grappling with body image issues so intensely that they’d consider drastic measures just to be thin. Honestly, I’m okay with someone choosing cosmetic procedures like a nose job or breast augmentation if that’s their personal decision. But when it comes to altering your body simply to achieve an unrealistic level of thinness, I truly believe it stems from a deeper mental health struggle. And I say that with all the respect in the world to anyone who’s facing these challenges – it’s incredibly difficult, and I want to be sensitive to that.
