It’s only been a little over two months into 2026, but we’re already seeing TV shows get canceled. Some of these cancellations are particularly frustrating because the shows seemed to have potential, while others were more predictable. TV shows have always been canceled, but it’s happening faster and more often now with streaming services, as companies tend to focus on how many people are watching right away rather than building something successful over time.
This has understandably upset many fans, as several shows have been canceled, and 2026 is already seeing even more cuts. While most of these cancellations weren’t entirely unexpected, it’s disappointing that these series didn’t get the chance to fully develop. From an Apple TV+ show cut after just two seasons to a Netflix series quietly removed from the platform, these are some of the first shows to be canceled this year—and unfortunately, they probably won’t be the last.
5) Palm Royale (Apple TV+)
Canceled: March 2

The comedy series Palm Royale premiered on Apple TV in 2024 with a strong cast including Kristen Wiig, Carol Burnett, and Leslie Bibb. While the first season received mixed reviews, it was popular enough to earn a second season and even won an Emmy for its theme song. Season 2 was better received overall, but unfortunately, the show was canceled on March 3rd, making it Apple TV’s first series cancellation of 2026. The reason for the cancellation remains unknown, though the second season does offer a reasonably conclusive ending.
4) Good Cop/Bad Cop (The CW)
Canceled: February 13

Unlike Palm Royale, which had a chance to complete its story, The CW’s Good Cop/Bad Cop was cut short. It premiered in February 2025 with only eight episodes, and wasn’t officially cancelled until a year later when star Luke Cook announced the news on TikTok. It’s disappointing, considering the show – a police drama about two separated siblings – received positive reviews from both critics and viewers. Ultimately, it needed higher viewership to continue, and even after becoming available on Prime Video, it didn’t gain enough traction, according to Deadline.
3) The Abandons (Netflix)
Canceled: January 21

The Netflix Western series, The Abandons, starring Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson, seemed promising, but it didn’t quite deliver on expectations, according to reviews. Despite having a strong cast, the show didn’t gain much traction and was canceled just over a month after its December 2025 release. Kurt Sutter, the series creator, voiced his disapproval of the cancellation on Instagram, as reported by Deadline. The high cost of the show – around $150 million for the first season – likely played a role in Netflix’s decision, as viewership numbers probably didn’t match the significant investment, leading to its cancellation.
2) The Vince Staples Show (Netflix)
Canceled: January 21

Netflix quietly canceled The Vince Staples Show after its second season, which aired in November 2025. The series was a fictionalized take on the life of the rapper Vince Staples. Despite a dedicated fanbase that’s actively trying to revive the show, it didn’t attract enough viewers for a third season. Netflix’s viewership data shows the show’s audience dropped significantly from 4.6 million in Season 1 to 1.7 million in Season 2, likely leading to the cancellation and adding to a growing list of canceled shows on the platform.
1) Alice in Borderland (Netflix)
Canceled: January 20

The cancellation of Alice in Borderland was unusual. Netflix announced in a viewership report that Season 3 would be the last, and the decision didn’t spark much debate, likely because the new season received some criticism upon its release in September 2025. Despite still being popular, and ending with an unresolved cliffhanger, it seems unlikely the show will return, as Netflix rarely reverses cancellations. This suggests the shows marked for cancellation in 2026 are likely gone for good.
