Many fans don’t realize how much potential there is with the Avengers. Since the team’s creation in 1963, it’s included a huge number of heroes. Beyond the well-known members like Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor, there are many other equally compelling characters who deserve a chance to appear in the movies.
Some of these heroes aren’t well-known, even among comic book fans. But they have the potential to become popular MCU Avengers, just like the first six did. Characters like Moondragon, Singularity, and Quasar could fit seamlessly into the Marvel Cinematic Universe if Marvel Studios develops them well.
Singularity first appeared in Secret Wars and later became a member of A-Force while living in Arcadia after befriending Nico Minoru. Despite appearing as a young girl, she’s actually a very powerful being from the cosmos. Singularity can control time and space, possesses incredible psychic abilities, and manipulate energy.
Singularity isn’t a well-known Marvel character, mainly because her team didn’t last very long. However, the Marvel Cinematic Universe might finally introduce her to a wider audience. Some fans believe the character Love from Thor: Love and Thunder was based on Singularity, and they’re hoping that’s true. With the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars movie, the heroes will need all the help they can get, and Singularity – a being made of sentient quantum energy – could be a powerful addition to the team.
Comics often feature living locations, like Krakoa and the lesser-known Impossible City. One example is Camelot, a ship that once served as the Avengers’ base for nearly ten years. Banished from a dying timeline (Earth-20208), Camelot is actually a living being and became an official member of the Avengers. It could help the team escape threats by creating portals and teleporting them to safety.
The Impossible City could be a fascinating and fresh addition to the Avengers team. It would be impressive to see Marvel Studios create such a being without a traditional physical form. Plus, it would offer a much-needed change of scenery for the Avengers’ base of operations.
Angelica Jones, also known as Firestar, isn’t a completely unknown hero, but she doesn’t get nearly enough attention in comics and other media. Many remember her as a friend of Spider-Man and Iceman from the 1980s cartoon Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, but that was over 45 years ago! It would be fantastic to see her team up with them again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
There’s speculation that Sadie Sink might portray Angelica in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, though it’s still unconfirmed, especially with increasing talk about her potentially playing Jean Grey. Regardless, many fans think Marvel should add Firestar to the Avengers team. She’s incredibly powerful – resistant to radiation and able to store energy – and has been overlooked for too long.
As a child, Heather Douglas survived a terrible accident that claimed the lives of her family. She was rescued by Mentor, the father of Thanos, who raised and trained her to become an incredibly skilled martial artist. He also helped her unlock hidden psychic abilities. This training connected her to a powerful cosmic being called the Dragon of the Moon, which is where she got her name.
Moondragon is a powerful character, and her backstory is surprisingly linked to a popular Marvel hero: Drax the Destroyer. Drax, whose real name was Arthur Douglas, has a daughter named Kamaria in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her name, meaning “like the moon” or “moonlight” in Swahili, strongly suggests that Moondragon will appear in future films, and fans are eagerly anticipating her introduction.
I’ve always loved the story of Quasar! It’s so cool how Wendell Vaughn started out as basically a failed trainee – he was actually kicked out of the program! But then, out of nowhere, he finds these things called the Quantum Bands, and BAM! Instant superhero power. It’s amazing how quickly he went from zero to Quasar, and even more awesome that he became an Avenger just a few years later, sticking around for a couple of different team lineups.
Quasar would be a fantastic addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s incredibly powerful, and his history introduces exciting, unexplored cosmic elements from Marvel Comics. Plus, he’s a regular person who gains amazing abilities – the kind of relatable, yet epic, story that fans love.
Jericho Drumm, who is known as Doctor Voodoo, came to the United States from Haiti to study psychology. However, after the death of his brother, Daniel, a voodoo priest, Jericho returned home and became a powerful necromancer, taking over Daniel’s responsibilities. He operated independently for years, but in 2014, he joined the Avengers Unity Division.
Fans are hoping to see more characters with magical abilities in the franchise. Doctor Voodoo has become increasingly popular, especially after a recent romance with the Scarlet Witch in the graphic novel House of Harkness by Preeti Chhibber. This book reintroduced the character and could pave the way for a future appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Jonathan Hart, also known as Jack of Hearts, is an incredibly powerful hero who has fought alongside the Avengers. He gained his abilities after being exposed to a substance called Zero Fluid, which gave him superhuman strength and the power to manipulate Zero Energy. However, this transformation also meant he needed a special suit to contain the resulting radiation.
Despite being incredibly powerful, the character of Hart hasn’t gotten much attention in Marvel comics. His biggest moment was over two decades ago when he sacrificed himself in the “Avengers Disassembled” storyline, tragically killing Scott Lang. The Marvel Cinematic Universe now has a great opportunity to finally make Hart a significant character. He’s a compelling mix of sadness and charm, and with the right actors, he could really stand out.
Beta Ray Bill, an alien from the planet Korbin, is a powerful Marvel hero known for being one of the few characters worthy of wielding Thor’s hammer, Mjölnir. While Thor was initially upset, he quickly recognized Bill as a skilled and honorable warrior, and the two became close friends. Despite his strength and the iconic weapon Stormbreaker he uses in the comics, Beta Ray Bill hasn’t appeared much in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Bill didn’t become an Avenger until 2025, stepping in after Thor lost his memories and needed a replacement. But Marvel fans have been anticipating his arrival ever since a hint appeared in Thor: Ragnarök during the Sakaar scenes. With Bill now officially part of the team, it’s a great moment to showcase his power within the MCU’s Avengers lineup.
Nighthawk is actually Kyle Richmond, the wealthy heir to Richmond Enterprises, who secretly fights crime as a vigilante. He started as a villain alongside the Squadron Sinister, but after encountering the Defenders, he switched to being a hero and has operated at a street level ever since. While his DC Comics counterpart is well-known, Nighthawk hasn’t become a major figure in Marvel until now, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe might be the perfect opportunity to change that.
Okay, so I’m really hoping Marvel brings Nighthawk into the MCU. It’d be awesome if they could do it without making him just seem like a Batman copycat, but he’s got a ton of potential to be a really popular hero. They’ve already mentioned Jackson Norris, which is one of his identities, but honestly, I – and a lot of other fans, I think – really want to see the actual Nighthawk character show up on screen.
Dr. Adam Brashear was a scientist researching antimatter. A huge explosion in his lab gave him incredible powers, turning him into a superhero. He can now absorb and control antimatter, and also possesses immense strength and a nearly indestructible body. In the mid-2000s, he joined the Mighty Avengers, becoming one of their most powerful members.
Blue Marvel is a well-rounded superhero with impressive, classic powers that make for exciting battles. His story also deals with important issues, such as the racism he faced when the government made him cover his face. He was originally conceived as an exploration of a fascinating question: how would the world have reacted to a Black Superman in the 1960s? The Marvel Cinematic Universe could really shine with his story, and he has the potential to be as beloved as characters like Iron Man and Captain America.
