Okay, so everyone’s obsessed with Pokemon Pokopia – and for good reason! As a longtime Pokemon player, I can tell you this game is amazing, and it seems like a ton of new players are loving it too. It’s already become one of the highest-rated Pokemon games ever, and good luck finding a physical copy – they’re sold out everywhere! Seriously, my social media is just non-stop Pokopia talk. And it doesn’t look like that’s going to change anytime soon. The game is huge, with tons to do, and they’re already adding limited-time events. The first one, ‘More Spore for Hoppip,’ actually started on March 10th, so I’m jumping in now!
There was a mix-up regarding the “More Spore for Hoppip” event. Nintendo’s official account mistakenly announced a start time of 1 PM PT on March 9th. The event in Pokemon Pokopia actually begins at 5 AM local time on March 10th and lasts until March 25th, giving players around 15 days to find and befriend Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff. Here’s everything you need to know to get started and add these Pokémon to your town.
How to Start the Hoppip Event in Pokemon Pokopia

To join the More Spore for Hoppip event, you first need to finish building one Pokemon Center. Once it’s complete, if you’re in that town as Ditto, you’ll receive a message saying, “A Pokemon is the talk of the town.” This message will prompt you to visit the Pokemon Center for details.
If you haven’t received the notification for this event and it’s after 5 AM local time on March 10th, try exiting your game while you’re in a town that has a fully functioning Pokémon Center. It appears the event begins when you wake up in that location—at least, that’s been my experience. Since Ditto falls asleep in your house when you close the game, returning home and waking it up might trigger the event.
Once you receive the notification, go to the Pokémon Center. You’ll find Hoppip there – simply talk to it to start the “More Spore for Hoppip” event.
How to Get Hoppip in Pokemon Pokopia

It’s easy to get Hoppip during this event! After waking up in town and speaking with it near the Pokemon Center, Hoppip will join you. However, it needs your help finding some lost cotton spores. To find more, you’ll need to visit a Dream Island, and Drifloon can take you there. You can attract Drifloon by either interacting with a Pokemon Doll or by having one in your bag when you talk to it.
I’ve found that it doesn’t really matter which Dream Island you choose. Each one has floating Cotton Spores that you can collect, along with the regular items found there. Just remember you can only visit one type of Dream Island each day. If you start with a Pichu Doll, you’ll need to wait until the next day to visit an Eevee Doll island. However, you can revisit the Pichu Island to collect more spores. They appear randomly all over the island, so make sure to explore and gather as many as possible.
You can exchange Cotton Spores with Hoppip, who will be at the Pokemon Center where you first encountered it. The items Hoppip offers are essential for building the habitats needed to attract Skiploom and Jumpluff. Keep in mind that Pokemon don’t evolve in Pokopia, so you’ll need to create specific habitats for Skiploom and Jumpluff to add them – along with Hoppip – to your collection during the event.
How to Get Skiploom and Jumpluff in Pokopia

To attract Skiploom and Jumpluff, plant Dandy Flower seeds to create a large area of yellow flowers. While this works, you can also build habitats tailored to each Pokémon for faster results.
For Skiploom, you will need to build a Field Trip Friends Habitat. This requires:
- Flower Backpack (5 Cotton Spores)
- Hoppip Water Bottle (5 Cotton Spores)
- Lunch Box (5 Cotton Spores)
To attract Jumpluff, you’ll need to set up the Dandelion Lunchtime habitat. This habitat needs:
- 1 Bunch of Dandy Flowers (5 Bags of Seeds for 5 Cotton Spores)
- Flower Cushion (10 Cotton Spores)
- Lunch Box (5 Cotton Spores)
- Flowery Table Setting (10 Cotton Spores).
After becoming friends with a Pokémon, you can move it into a house, which lets you reclaim the items you were using for its living space. This is helpful if you’re short on items like Spores, as you can then use that Lunch Box again.
The More Spores for Hoppip event is your chance to get special items to attract Hoppip! Make sure to play Pokopia between March 10th and March 25th to gather Spores and collect all the Hoppip-themed goodies.
