I’m anticipating Mark Grayson’s return in Invincible season four, but knowing this show, it won’t be easy for him. After the brutal fight with Conquest that ended season three, Mark is facing even bigger challenges. The creators, Robert Kirkman and Simon Racioppa, recently told me about what’s coming: the Viltrumite emperor, Thragg, is about to arrive. Season four hits Amazon on March 18th, and it sounds like Mark and his allies are in for a fight against an alien empire unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.
Creators Kirkman and Racioppa have promised fans that Mark will face even greater challenges in season four of Invincible. They acknowledged that part of the appeal of the show is seeing Mark struggle, and that will continue. The new season will feature an escalating threat in the form of Thragg, the Viltrumite king, voiced by Lee Pace (known for Guardians of the Galaxy and The Hobbit), who is considered the series’ most powerful villain. Kirkman and Racioppa also shared details about how Mark Grayson will recover and fight back.
Invincible Beatdown

Kirkman and Racioppa hinted that the fourth season would be incredibly ambitious. They want viewers to think, ‘There’s no way they can outdo Season 3!’ and be genuinely surprised by what happens. They even jokingly challenged viewers to discuss their reactions with them after watching the finale if they felt the season couldn’t possibly be better than the last.
The creators have been building up the Viltrumite empire – a major force in the animated series – for three seasons, showing glimpses of their power. But season four will finally reveal the full scope of the Empire and its dangers.
Even though the Viltrumite Empire hasn’t shown its full power yet, the few alien invaders we’ve already seen have caused a lot of destruction. Now that Omni-Man is fighting against his own people, the Coalition of Planets still needs as much help as possible. Season four won’t just focus on the Empire, though; new villains like Dinosaurus and Universa are coming, and Mark will also have to deal with his own personal struggles. If the new season follows the comic book, it’s expected to be the most action-packed and violent one of the series so far.
