The ‘Isekai’ genre – stories about ordinary people transported to fantastical worlds – is hugely popular in anime. Among the many series in this genre, one stands out as particularly controversial. A returning show, arriving on April 1st (and it’s no joke!), is aiming to improve on its first season. Fans are eagerly hoping that The Beginning After The End delivers a stronger second season.
To get fans excited for the return of the popular fantasy series next month, Studio A-Cat has released a new trailer and poster. Unlike many similar stories, “The Beginning After The End” features a hero who used to be a king, now starting a new life from scratch. The trailer hints at the upcoming season, showing Arthur Leywin working as an adventurer with Jasmine, improving his skills with both sword and magic. They’re invited on a special quest by a highly-ranked adventurer named Brald, which Arthur sees as his last adventure before attending the Academy. However, the trailer suggests a terrible event is about to happen.

The Isekai Controversy Explained

The anime adaptation of the web novel The Beginning After The End has sparked considerable debate among fans. Many feel that Studio A-Cat hasn’t done justice to the original story, and they’ve even started a petition asking for a complete reboot. The Change.org petition, titled “Demand a Proper Adaptation of the ‘The Beginning After The End’ Anime,” has already gathered over 58,000 signatures, indicating a strong desire among fans for significant improvements in the upcoming second season.
So, after all the discussion around the anime adaptation, the original creator, TurtleMe, finally shared his thoughts last year. He basically said that while he always sees ways he could’ve done things differently looking back, he’s decided to focus on making the novel and comic the best they can be – that’s where he feels he can really contribute to a great story. He trusts the anime studio to handle the adaptation and do their best with it. Now, we’re all just waiting to see next month if Studio A-Cat listened to the feedback, or if fans will need to rally again to make their voices heard. I’m really hoping they took it to heart!
