Pokémon Pokopia’s Release Leads to 10 Percent Growth in Nintendo Share Prices

The new Pokémon Pokopia game is proving to be a huge success with both critics and players. Bloomberg reports that the company’s stock price has jumped 10% since the game launched, and physical copies are quickly selling out at major retailers across the US.

Jeffries analyst Atul Goyal believes the recent release of Pokémon Pokopia is giving the Switch 2 a significant boost in popularity. He described the game as a “viral hit,” helping to ease concerns among Nintendo investors about potential cost issues. Hideki Yasuda, a Tokyo Securities analyst, called Pokémon Pokopia an unexpected success, noting that it wasn’t predicted to be so popular. He highlighted the game’s widespread appeal, mentioning its success in markets around the world, “from Japan to Canada.”

Pokémon Pokopia has received generally favorable reviews, scoring 89 out of 100 on Metacritic based on 68 critic reviews. Players also seem to enjoy the game, giving it an average rating of 8.5 out of 10 from over 726 user reviews.

The new Pokémon game, released recently, is a fresh take on the series. It’s more similar to games like Animal Crossing than to previous Pokémon titles. Players take on the role of a Ditto disguised as a human and explore the world, gathering materials to craft items and build a home.

As you play, you’ll encounter other Pokémon who can teach your team new skills. Once you become friends with them, they can even come live with you and help gather resources or complete tasks. Each Pokémon has a special talent – for example, Bulbasaur can grow new grass, and Charmander can use fire to clear obstacles.

A new trailer for the game was released just last month, showcasing its cooperative gameplay. It also revealed some helpful characters, including Professor Tangrowth and Greedent, who will assist players in developing their town.

Takuto Edagawa, the director of Pokémon Pokopia, has mentioned that the game offers a substantial amount of content beyond the main story, even after players complete the primary quests.

The goal is to build a world where people and Pokémon coexist. The main story will likely take players between 20 and 40 hours to complete, though that will vary depending on their playstyle. And there’s still plenty to do and discover even after the credits roll, he explained.

Honestly, it really comes down to what people are looking for in the game, but I think players will definitely want to keep playing. I think the game will naturally motivate us to stick around and have fun.

Pokémon Pokopia is only available on the Nintendo Switch 2.
