With the release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, the Pokemon Trading Card Game is bringing back Mega Evolutions in a huge way, and recent sets have been some of the best in years. Ascended Heroes offered great cards for both collectors and players, and the next set, Perfect Order, arrives on March 27th. Now, The Pokemon Company has announced even more to come with the next installment in the Mega Evolution series.
The new Mega Evolution set brings back Mega Evolution ex cards to the Pokemon TCG. A key feature of this latest collection is the debut of cards for new Mega Evolutions first seen in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Each expansion so far has included only a small number of these new Megas, and a popular choice is coming with Mega Evolution – Chaos Rising. This new expansion was just announced and will be available on May 22nd.
Pokemon TCG: Mega Evolution – Chaos Rising Revealed, Adding Mega Floette and More to the Game
The Pokémon Company just announced the first details about its upcoming expansion, Mega Evolution – Chaos Rising. The set will be available in stores on May 22nd. It will include new Mega Evolution Pokémon ex cards, plus more rare and specially illustrated cards. A highlight of the expansion is Mega Floette, a popular Pokémon from Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
With the release of Chaos Rising this summer, several new Pokémon will gain the ability to Mega Evolve. Here’s what’s coming:
- 5 new Mega Evolution Pokemon ex cards
- 5 new Pokemon ex cards
- 11 Illustration Rares
- 18 Ultra Rares for Pokemon and Trainer Cards
- 6 Special Illustration Rares for Pokemon and Supporter Cards
We’ve learned that the upcoming set will include new Mega ex cards featuring Mega Floette, Mega Greninja, Mega Pyroar, and Mega Dragalge. While the complete list of cards isn’t available yet, we know it will include a new Elite Trainer Box and booster packs, which have been previewed by the Pokémon Company. Details on when you can pre-order these items are still to come.
We now have dates for when players can first try out the new cards! Pre-release tournaments, part of the Play! Pokémon program, will begin on May 9th, giving players an early chance to play with the new expansion. The cards will then be available for purchase at local stores on May 22nd.
If you’re excited about the new Pokémon Mega ex cards and want them before May, watch for the release of Perfect Order on March 27th. Also, the next batch of Ascended Heroes products will be available at local card stores starting March 20th. You might even find some earlier releases of these sets – like Elite Trainer Boxes and mini tins – if you get lucky.
