Jessi Ngatikaura isn’t keeping her feelings about Demi Engemann a secret.
Actually, the star of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives wasn’t surprised when Demi left the show during the fourth season.
Jessi wasn’t shocked by the news, explaining to Will Marfuggi from TopMob News that this has happened every season. “She always leaves and then returns,” Jessi said, “so it wasn’t a surprise to any of us. We actually found out about it at the same time you did – when we called her.”
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen this happen too many times, and honestly, what’s really bothering this 33-year-old about Demi’s departure is that it opens the door for others to tell her story for her. It’s frustrating to lose control of your own narrative, and it sounds like that’s exactly what’s happening here.
Jessi, who is married to Jordan Ngatikaura, thinks her fellow cast members would have reacted similarly if she had left the show after her emotional connection with Marciano Brunette from Vanderpump Villa became public. That’s why she chose to be honest about it on camera.
I immediately thought, ‘That makes perfect sense!'” Jessi said. “It’s frustrating. I was bothered because we’re all dedicated to seeing this through. If I had simply given up and left, it would have reflected poorly on me – people would have gossiped and created their own version of events without my input.”
She added, referring to Demi, “Why don’t you just finish what you started?” She thought running away only made things look worse, but admitted it wasn’t surprising, as Demi often acted this way.

Everyone’s wondering if Demi will be back for season five of Mormon Wives, and honestly, when I asked, she didn’t give anything away! She was super secretive and didn’t say one way or the other, which is so frustrating but also kind of exciting, considering they’re filming right now.
She admitted she couldn’t share details, but hinted that things had been a lot calmer for her this season.
I’ve been following Jessi and Jordan for a while now, and she recently shared an update on their relationship. It sounds like things are still a bit uncertain for them as they navigate what their future holds, especially as they co-parent their adorable kids, Jagger, who’s five, and Jovi, who’s three. They’re really just taking things one day at a time, it seems.
We’re both really focused on working through our issues, so we’ve been going to therapy. We decided that if we’re going to try and make our relationship work, we need to be sure we’ve given it our all. Giving up right away didn’t feel like the right thing to do, so we’re seeing therapists both individually and as a couple, trying to figure things out and see if it can help us move forward. We’re still in the process of working through everything.

It’s tough for Jessi to share her personal struggles on camera, but she finds comfort in the possibility that being honest about her relationship could help others going through the same challenges.
She shared that many people experience difficulties in their relationships or marriages, and she hopes that by being open about her own ongoing challenges, she can help others. She wants people to know it’s okay to struggle, seek help, and be honest about what’s happening in their relationships – it’s not something to be ashamed of.
Season four of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives will be available to stream on Hulu starting March 12th, with all 10 episodes released at once. Read on to learn more about the cast!
