Ed Sheeran Shares Update on Wife After Past Cancer Diagnosis

Ed Sheeran’s wife Cherry Seaborn is on the other side of her cancer journey.

Ed Sheeran recently shared that his wife, Cherry, was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 while she was pregnant with their daughter, Jupiter, who is now three years old. He confirmed that she is now doing well.

Ed shared on the March 12th episode of the Friends Keep Secrets podcast that she was doing well and had already undergone the surgery, telling Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky, and Kristin Batalucco the news.

Ed, who also has a five-year-old daughter named Lyra with Cherry, explained that it was a challenging time because she was pregnant. She had surgery to remove the tumor after giving birth to their second child, and thankfully, she’s doing well now.

The Grammy-winning artist, who revealed his diagnosis in his 2023 Disney+ documentary, Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All, described receiving the news as the “worst day” of his life.

Around this time, Ed was also dealing with the sadness caused by the passing of his friends Jamal Edwards and Shane Warne.

He described the day he found out Cherry had cancer as the worst day – possibly the worst week of his life. That same week, Jamal passed away, and immediately after that, they had to deal with a court case. Then, shortly after, Shane also died.

Adding to everything else, he was also dealing with a lawsuit claiming his song “Shape of You” violated someone else’s copyright, but he eventually proved his case and won.

He admitted it was incredibly frightening. After eight years of leading up to the court case, though, he found that when he was actually in the courtroom, the outcome didn’t seem to matter much. He explained that because he’d already dealt with some very difficult personal challenges, the case felt insignificant in comparison.

Ed has talked about how his wife, Cherry, whom he married in 2019, keeps him grounded despite the busyness of his life.

He explained on the Call Her Daddy podcast in April that his girlfriend, Cherry, keeps him grounded. He said whenever things start to feel too extravagant or artificial, she brings him back down to earth, often saying something like, ‘Bro…’ He added that because they grew up together, she always provides a down-to-earth perspective, reminding him of their roots in Suffolk.

I attempted to build a bowling alley in the backyard, but my wife thought it was unnecessary. She doesn’t want the kids to grow up feeling like we’re trying to create an overly extravagant lifestyle, like something out of the Richie Rich comic.
