Where DWTS’ Tom Bergeron, Bobby Bones Stand After Win Comments

Tom Bergeron and Bobby Bones are putting their best foot forward.

Tom and Bobby recently had a conversation to resolve some tension stemming from Tom’s previous remarks about Bobby’s win on Dancing With the Stars with Sharna Burgess in season 27. Tom had previously said he was very surprised by the outcome, and the two finally discussed it face-to-face.

Tom explained to Bobby on the March 12th episode of The BobbyCast that he felt bad about how he reacted to Bobby’s win. He said the question was about the most surprising elimination he could recall, and he simply couldn’t think of one at the time, leading to an awkward response.

He added that he regretted not saying something like, “It wasn’t entirely unexpected, but I was still surprised when Bobby Bones won.”

To emphasize what he was saying, the 70-year-old showed a photo on his phone of Bobby’s reaction when he won the season. Bobby’s jaw had dropped – he looked completely surprised.

Despite everything, Tom is truly sorry for what he said. He explained, “Knowing I upset you and that you returned your trophy made me feel awful.”

And while feelings may have been hurt, Bobby never lost the love for the former DWTS host.

He found it amusing that he’d been asked about this issue so often, he’d already mentioned it in every interview. He consistently stated his admiration for Tom Bergeron, and that hadn’t changed.

He explained that he’d had ankle surgery the day before and believed the pain medication he was still taking played a major role in why he reacted so strongly.

Bobby acknowledged it was a strange and unpredictable season, but emphasized he gave his all to achieve the win.

This marks the first direct conversation between Tom and Bobby about the incident that happened in November, though Tom had previously apologized to Bobby for the controversial statement he made.

He once posted on Instagram, saying he should probably use the skills he learned from his mime training. He explained to someone named Bobby that he didn’t mean to upset him, and his reaction of ‘ouch’ came from genuinely believing Bobby’s win highlighted a problem with how judges and viewers weigh in.

Regarding their 2018 win—where Bobby and Sharna surprisingly beat Milo Manheim and Witney Carson—Tom said he always felt sorry that Bobby and Sharna had to handle the reactions afterward. He also admitted he regretted making things worse by bringing it up again.

Tom and Bobby have resolved their differences, but not all the drama from Dancing with the Stars has been put to rest. Here’s more on the ongoing feuds.

A disagreement broke out after a judge said she was being harassed online by supporters of a former contestant from The Bachelorette.

Carrie Ann Inaba revealed on The Talk that she still experiences bullying, particularly around this time of year. She explained that people target her because of her tendency to be critical of others, and she expressed her disbelief that this behavior continues even among adults. This came after the November 2, 2020, episode of the ABC reality competition show she appears on.

Carrie Ann Inaba criticized Kaitlyn and her partner, Artem Chigvintsev, after their jive performance, pointing out that they illegally performed a lift.

She seemed unsure. “Can you do that move yourself?” she asked Kaitlyn. “I’m counting that as a lift.” As a result, she lowered their score.

Following her performance, Kaitlyn told Entertainment Tonight she was surprised by Carrie Ann’s criticism. She wondered if the judge was trying to motivate them or if it was related to how she previously treated Hannah Brown. Kaitlyn asked how they were supposed to learn from the comments and use them to improve in their next rehearsal, and what exactly Carrie Ann wanted them to focus on.

Artem felt Carrie Ann’s criticisms were too personal and that he doubted he could ever satisfy her.

It was obvious the actress from The O.C. wasn’t happy during her brief time on season 22, and viewers quickly picked up on the awkwardness between her and her professional dance partner.

“I had no idea it would be so bad. I got told off by my dancer,” she said in a later interview with The Ringer. “I was supposed to control the costumes, I was told that I could do the design aspect of it, that’s kind of the reason why I agreed to do it. That didn’t happen.”

Cheryl shared that the former star of Beverly Hills, 90210, who competed on her show in season four, was the celebrity she disliked working with the most.

She admitted on the “Allegedly” podcast that Ian Ziering would be her least favorite dance partner. She explained that she’s bothered by how his name is pronounced – “EYE-AN” instead of “EE-AN,” and it actually makes her feel sick.

She explained that she had pleaded with company leaders, even to the point of tears, asking if they would consider letting her team go. They repeatedly refused, telling her it wasn’t possible, and she said they continued to push forward, determined to stay in business as long as they could.

During season 23 of the show, a contestant revealed that a judge made her feel insecure about her body. She explained in her podcast that the judge seemed uncomfortable with her physique, specifically mentioning her hips, buttocks, and breasts.

Julianne and her partner discussed the situation on their show after Julianne apologized and explained her previous comments to TopMob News. She said her remark about feeling “uncomfortable” wasn’t about the dancer’s body, but rather that she expected more energy during the performance. She clarified that a lively, sensual dance is something she enjoys, and she strongly opposes any form of body shaming.

Amber apologized, explaining that when she heard someone say they felt a little uncomfortable, she felt embarrassed and assumed they weren’t referring to her dancing. She added that she was sorry if she had misinterpreted the situation.

Maks and his partner became close friends during season 12 and again on the All-Star season, but Maks later said their friendship suffered because of Scientology.

Oh my god, he actually said it on Watch What Happens Live back in 2014! He was talking about her, and it broke my heart. He said they had such a good thing going, a great relationship, but then… apparently, because he started hanging out with people she didn’t approve of, she just cut him off! No more talking, just… nothing. He was so hurt, but he tried to be cool about it, saying ‘it is what it is.’ Honestly, it’s just so unfair! He clearly still thinks the world of her, and he even clarified he’s Jewish and doesn’t judge people – even saying he doesn’t even believe in sci-fi, just to show he’s open-minded! It’s just… tragic. I ship them so hard, and this is devastating.

In response, Kirstie wrote that her former partner has “ass raped” her with the comments.

The well-known athlete and her dance partner had a difficult relationship during season 13 of the show. In her autobiography, she claimed he physically assaulted her during practice. She also revealed that the network offered to switch her to a different partner, but she refused, not wanting to jeopardize his career.

Let’s talk about handling difficult people. Recently, I addressed some claims made against me, and honestly, it came down to a core belief I have: while everyone has a past and life throws curveballs, ultimately, character matters. I firmly believe that no matter what someone has gone through, being intentionally unkind or hurtful is never justified. It’s easy to make excuses for bad behavior, but at some point, you have to take responsibility for who you are as a person. It’s a tough conversation, but a necessary one for healthy relationships and a positive life.

The reality star and her dance partner struggled during season 10, and Tony later revealed he needed therapy to cope with the experience. At one point during rehearsals, he even shouted that he was quitting.

The mother of eight responded to Tony by saying she was disappointed he only remembered the negative parts of their time working together, especially considering how much effort they all put in over the weeks of the competition.

The judge faced backlash after telling a contestant she wouldn’t win a Nobel Prize in physics, but complimented her appearance instead.

Charlotte was upset by Bruno’s remarks, telling TopMob News that they were completely unnecessary. She pointed out that it felt especially inappropriate given the recent focus on kindness and anti-bullying, and that the conversation hadn’t even been about intelligence or ability. She simply felt his comments were out of line.

After winning season seven of the show, Brooke co-hosted with Tom Bergeron for several years. She was surprised and disappointed to learn she wouldn’t be returning for season eighteen, as Erin Andrews was brought in as her replacement.

After seven seasons of co-hosting Dancing with the Stars, I understand the show is moving in a new direction, and I respect that,” she told TopMob News. “I’m excited to explore new opportunities that weren’t possible while I was under contract. I’ve witnessed many surprising departures on the show, but this one is the most shocking yet.

During season 18, the Dance Moms star appeared as a guest judge, and professional dancer Maks Chmerkovskiy didn’t appreciate her feedback. He told Erin Andrews that he disagreed with her critique of his performance with Meryl Davis, stating he didn’t value her opinion.

Abby strongly disagreed with Maks’ comment, calling it “disrespectful.” She told TopMob News that while she wasn’t personally bothered by it, she felt it showed a lack of respect towards ABC, Dancing With the Stars, and one of the judges.
