
Garage51 is creating CORDURA, a scary cooperative horror game for PlayStation 5 and PC. Set in a creepy, twisted version of Victorian times, up to four players will work together to sneak into haunted buildings and collect “Roses of the Night” before time runs out. They haven’t announced when the game will be released yet.
In the game CORDURA, the developers at Garage51 aimed to create a sense of unease and distrust rather than relying on sudden, predictable scares, according to a recent press release. They designed the game so that staying quiet helps you avoid detection, but survival depends on communication and teamwork.

About
CORDURA is a scary, team-based game for up to four players. You work together to explore a Victorian mansion and find the Roses of the Night before you’re trapped forever. But beware – as your characters lose their minds, the house will start to play tricks on you, disguising enemies as your friends using their appearances and voices.
Each attempt to escape the mansion is a frantic race against time. The building constantly changes throughout the night, becoming increasingly ominous as the clock strikes each hour. With randomly generated levels, permanent death, and unexpected dangers, every playthrough feels like a terrifying spiral into paranoia, fear, and madness.
Story
Break in, take it, get out…
For a long time, science has helped us overcome our fear of darkness. As technology and wealth increased, so did learning and entertainment – people stayed up late studying or enjoying vibrant nightlife. But by losing touch with the natural rhythms of the night, we’ve inadvertently created problems for ourselves.
Each morning, many grand mansions are found changed and warped by the darkness, their interiors twisted and unnatural. The people living inside are no longer who they once were, becoming empty shells controlled by the night. Anyone who enters risks losing their own sanity and sense of self.
Despite all this, selfishness continues to rule. Deep within these decaying lands, a valuable mineral called the Rose of the Night can be found. From this mineral, they create Ambrosia, a potent substance that enhances desire and stimulates the mind, and the wealthy elite eagerly seek it for their extravagant parties.
Each night, those with nothing to lose and little sense are sent to gather Ambrosia from dangerous, abandoned locations. They operate under one simple guideline:

Gameplay Loop
As a Contractor, you send Workers into ever-changing labyrinths to collect Ambrosia from the Night Roses. These Workers can explore with up to three other players. Each time you enter the mansion, the layout and dangers are different, ensuring no two nights are ever the same.
After fending off an attack, the workers who come back are changed, carrying both physical and mental scars, as well as valuable coins. These coins can be used to improve their equipment – the drill and their weapon – making them more effective, but also encouraging them to take on greater dangers. Unfortunately, any worker lost in an attack is gone for good.
Workers exploring the labyrinth each carry a radio to stay in constant communication with a control room. From there, an operator monitors their progress using a map and a bright lantern. Both light and sound are risky: the lantern helps reveal safe routes, but also creates noise. Drilling for Ambrosia quickly can bring bigger rewards, but also attracts unwanted attention. The labyrinth is sensitive to disturbance; make too much noise, and the creatures that haunt it – once human themselves – will come for anyone who breaks the silence.
As night falls, one of the Workers starts to crack under the pressure. To regain their composure, they need to find a teammate, but they’re never quite sure if that help will arrive before it’s too late… or if the person they find has already become something else.
Once the time runs out, the mansion locks down, trapping any workers still inside. They’re left to navigate a dangerous maze filled with creatures that will hunt them. When a worker dies, they’re gone for good and must be replaced before the next attempt. Plus, each maze is randomly generated and features a unique enemy, meaning players always have to adapt and learn new ways to survive each night.
CORDURA is a cooperative horror game where players take on different roles and face permanent consequences in a haunted mansion. The mansion itself changes and becomes more dangerous as the night goes on.
