Love Is Blind’s Devonta Reveals What Really Went Wrong With Brittany

Devonta Anderson is giving viewers a peek behind the curtain.

The star of Love Is Blind explained the reason he ended his engagement with Brittany Wicker on season 10, and he clarified it wasn’t because of how she looked.

In an interview with TopMob News, Devonta explained that viewers are misinterpreting a short clip. He said people are drawing conclusions based on just a few minutes of footage from over 100 hours of filming, and that crucial context and details were omitted, leading to a misunderstanding of the situation.

The loan officer, who recently got engaged and is expecting a child with a friend from college, doesn’t think their relationship with Brittany suddenly fell apart. However, he eventually realized they faced too many challenges to get married.

As the wedding approached, I realized I just wasn’t feeling it anymore. I wanted to be completely enthusiastic about getting married, without any doubts or unresolved issues. I felt like Brittany still needed to address some things from her previous relationships, and I didn’t want to take on her past emotional baggage as my own.

I don’t want to be in a relationship where I’m constantly solving someone else’s problems,” she explained. “It wasn’t anything major, but it made me realize this was potentially a lifelong commitment. I don’t want to enter a marriage and later feel resentful, wondering why we didn’t address these issues before making that commitment.”

Devonta admitted he had areas for improvement, but he thought the edited footage focused too much on their disagreements. He felt it made their conflicts seem bigger and more frequent than they actually were.

I tend to avoid conflict and put things off, hoping they’ll resolve themselves. But this experience forced me to address issues head-on. That’s why the show offered a more honest look at our relationship – we started having more open and direct conversations, even if they weren’t always easy to watch. That was the goal, though – to be real and show the full picture.

Devonta also hopes people had seen him and Brittany discussing their choice to not have sex.

He explained that the show didn’t include the development of emotional intimacy, which has been a major point of discussion online. He believes this is because the conversations about building those connections happened specifically within the pods, and that’s why it feels missing to viewers.

Devonta isn’t dwelling on the season’s outcome, saying, “Looking back, things happened as they happened, and I don’t regret anything.”

Brittany and Devonta didn’t end up together, but let’s see which couples from the Love Is Blind series are still going strong.

Amber, a mother to Emma, was anxious about whether Jordan would actually go through with the wedding.

She was relieved when both of them agreed, and the happy news brought tears to almost everyone’s eyes, even her daughter’s.

It was so heartbreaking to watch, but they announced at the season 10 reunion that their relationship had only lasted about four months. It was a really tough conversation to see unfold, and they both seemed genuinely upset.

Right before their nuptials, Brittany revealed she was “shocked” when Devonta called it all off.

Today was meant to be my wedding day, but things didn’t go as planned. Honestly, it just feels like none of my hopes and dreams are coming true right now.

Although things seemed good with her former partner, Devonta explained she couldn’t commit to marriage because she wasn’t sure she could fully meet his emotional needs. She realized she needed to be certain about her ability to love him in the way he deserved, and that uncertainty stopped her from going through with the wedding.

Despite Brittany saying they’ll remain a couple, Devonta has stated he doesn’t share that view.

Devonta shared at the season 10 reunion that he’s engaged to a longtime friend and they’re expecting a child.

Bri and Connor called off their wedding only days before it was supposed to happen, but at the show’s reunion, they shared that they’re still in love and plan to get married someday.

Their engagement ended suddenly when Chris told Jessica he wasn’t physically attracted to her.

Jessica eventually found a romantic connection with another participant, Dr. Haramol Gill, as she shared during the reunion show.

During the show, Haramol told Jess, ‘You light up every room you enter. You’re amazing.’

Despite falling in love without meeting in person, Emma and Mike ultimately couldn’t reconcile their different views on having children – Emma wasn’t sure she wanted them, while Mike definitely did – and decided not to get married.

Mike told Emma, “I love you.” But he wasn’t ready to commit to marriage just yet. He explained he wanted to have children and needed to be certain they both wanted the same thing – a family together. He didn’t want to rush into anything and then have their desires change later on.

Emma mentioned she occasionally envisions a future family for them, but Mike wants her to be completely sure before they move forward.

He told her that before they get married, he needs to be certain they both want to have children together. He emphasized that it’s important to him, and while he understands she has her own thoughts and feelings, he can’t commit to marriage without that shared understanding. He apologized for needing to be so clear about it.

The soccer coach, who gained attention from viewers this season, described his wedding day as being like a high-stakes penalty shootout, but expressed confidence that everything would work out.

Ashley clarified that marriage wasn’t the plan, but quickly responded with a yes when asked if he would commit.

“I already know what you’re thinking,” she said to him. “You’re not picking me, and I’m not picking you either.” Ashley then explained all the reasons their relationship wasn’t working, even questioning his honesty, which Alex immediately responded to.

He admitted he partially disagreed with her assessment of his character. He explained that the questions about his past felt like a trap, designed to find mistakes rather than to genuinely get to know him.

When asked if he had any regrets, he said, “Not at all! I’m very happy with who I am and proud of everything I’ve done.”

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen a lot of couples, and Christine and Vic? They just clicked. From the very beginning, it was clear they were a perfect fit and completely on the same page about building a future together. It was honestly lovely to witness!

During his wedding vows, he admitted he never expected to find love through such an unusual experience. He told Christine that they instantly connected the moment they started talking in the pods, and that she knew him better than anyone else.

Ultimately, Anton’s lifestyle and money problems weren’t what Ali was looking for.

She told the truck driver at the altar, “I can’t marry you.” She explained that the man she connected with while they were dating in the pods was very different from the person she’d gotten to know outside of that environment.

So, she listened to her intuition.

She explained to the cameras that the experience didn’t meet her expectations and didn’t feel authentic. She also felt he hadn’t been completely honest about his life.

Anton wasn’t sure what went wrong – whether it was appearances, the overall feeling between them, or simply how they lived together. But he insists he always cared for her deeply.

Despite connecting over shared experiences with family members who have Type 1 diabetes, Megan and her fiancé ultimately couldn’t overcome their contrasting lifestyles – he favored simplicity, while she enjoyed luxury. This difference led Megan to end their engagement at the conclusion of the ninth season.

“We’re just passing each other without really connecting, like strangers,” the entrepreneur explained. But Jordan didn’t understand the comparison, saying, “I don’t get it.”

After Megan mentioned Jordan’s fussiness with food and difficult travel commitments as a father, he responded by questioning why she had chosen him in the pods to begin with.

She admitted she’d initially thought their differences could work, but she still had doubts. Both of them started to cry as she continued, saying that knowing what she knew now, she wouldn’t have gone through with the wedding, as it would have been painful for both of them.

Jordan admitted his biggest regret was letting his son, Luca, meet her. He explained that he believes she doesn’t love him for who he is, and realizing that is what he needs to move on.

Megan shared that the experience made her doubt her abilities as a mother, wondering if she was too focused on her own needs.

At their wedding, both Kalybriah and Edmond declared their strong love for each other. However, Kalybriah ultimately rejected Edmond’s proposal, offering her apologies.

She told the realtor she needed someone fully committed, and admitted she wasn’t in that place herself at the moment. However, she quickly added that saying no didn’t mean she didn’t care about him.

Edmond was visibly upset, but Kalybriah thanked him for handling the situation with grace as she explained her difficult decision. When he asked if they might date in the future, Kalybriah reassured him that she wasn’t ruling it out completely.

“I am shocked,” he said in a confessional of her decision. “There was no bright side.”

Joe ended things with his partner before their season nine wedding after experiencing an emotional crisis while trying on his tuxedo.

Madison later shared with Glamour that Joe acted very differently depending on whether they were filming or not. When the cameras weren’t rolling, he was comforting and affectionate, often physically close. But on camera, he became distant, and you can actually see this shift in behavior during the pool party scene.

Madison directly asked Joe if he was attracted to her, and he admitted it had been a problem while they were on vacation.

She explained that she asked him what kind of women he usually dated, and he said he typically preferred ‘more petite women.’ Despite being a confident person, she admitted this comment briefly made her feel insecure.

Joe explained that he was clumsily trying to describe a recurring pattern in his past relationships, and didn’t intend to compare or judge anyone.

Nick broke up with Annie right before their wedding, telling her he felt upset that she always claimed to love him more than he loved her.

Despite being told it was finished, the hairstylist didn’t accept it and pleaded with Nick to stay with her, saying, “Just stay with me and love me.”

“You can’t make one plus one equal three,” he said, prompting her to say, “Watch me.”

Nick finally told Annie he wasn’t willing to marry her because he was unhappy.

Dave and Lauren’s relationship didn’t work out after they arrived in Honduras. While they discovered they had friends in common, the real issue stemmed from Dave learning that Lauren had previously been with someone he knew, and his inability to move past that before the show.

Plus, Dave hadn’t wanted to introduce Lauren to his friends or family. He hadn’t even told his dad about their engagement, and his sister, who would later cause a lot of problems, didn’t approve of the relationship at all.

Many viewers thought Monica and Joey were a perfect match and expected them to get married. But when the time came, Monica decided she wasn’t ready to commit just yet.

She said, crying, that she was completely sure of how she felt, but it seemed like neither she nor Joey was fully ready. Joey wholeheartedly agreed.

He hugged her and reassured her that everything was alright. He said they clearly cared for each other, but he felt they both needed to focus on personal growth right now. He admitted he wasn’t ready for a relationship, and wasn’t sure if he would be anytime soon.

Despite having significant differences in beliefs and values – like religion and politics – Ben and Sara appeared to have resolved them by the time of their wedding. However, they eventually decided to separate and end their relationship.

Sara, who previously told me she doesn’t see a future with Ben, explained to him, “Ben, I love you very much, but I’ve always envisioned a partner who shares my perspective and understands me deeply. Because of that, I can’t continue this relationship. I’m truly sorry if this isn’t what you wanted to hear.”

She explained that while she deeply cares for him, their core beliefs are too different for her to continue the relationship. Although her heart is involved, she ultimately realized they weren’t compatible.

I was really rooting for Devin and Virginia – they seemed so solid after leaving the pods! Everything was great between them, honestly, until they started talking about a prenuptial agreement. That’s when things got tricky, and I started to worry if they’d make it.

Ultimately, more significant problems led Virginia to end her relationship with Devin and decide against marrying him.

Fighting back tears after leaving the altar, she explained that she often felt the need to shield Devin throughout their relationship. She wasn’t sure if this stemmed from her upbringing, but protecting him was always a priority. This meant avoiding certain subjects he wasn’t comfortable discussing, like politics, and ultimately, it prevented them from fully connecting on a deeper level. They simply never reached that level of intimacy.

In the end, Daniel and Taylor were the happy couple who decided to commit to a lifetime of love, promising to stay together long after the holidays were over.

Despite a rocky start – Taylor thought Daniel had been checking her Instagram and knew what she looked like – they were able to move past it.

After sharing heartfelt vows, the couple had a lovely wedding and a joyful reception.

“We did it!” Daniel exclaimed, sitting with Taylor after their wedding. Taylor added, “We’re so excited to begin this next chapter of our lives.”

The art dealer, now well-known in his field, proposed to the author of Keeping Well after a complicated relationship involving Hannah Jiles. However, they soon realized they were better suited as friends and called off their brief engagement.

Brittany and Leo realized they didn’t have a romantic connection, as Brittany explained to People magazine. They discussed the possibility of making things work at the start of their time together, but as they got to know each other, it became clear there wasn’t a spark. They both felt this way and were able to talk about it openly and respectfully, making the realization and subsequent decision relatively easy.

Soon after appearing on a Netflix dating show, Brittany began dating musician Mod Sun in November 2024. However, she announced their breakup in July 2025.

Monica and Stephen split up after she discovered explicit text messages between her fiancé and another woman while they were still on vacation in Mexico. Stephen initially apologized on air, but later posted a message on social media after the episode broadcast.

In an October 2024 post on Instagram Stories, he expressed regret if his presence bothered anyone, saying, ‘If I ruined your day, I’m sorry you had to wake up.’ He added that he wished things could be different, but still cared for everyone.

Okay, so Hannah and Nick left the ‘pods’ and real life hit – and it wasn’t always smooth sailing! They definitely had their share of challenges and, honestly, some pretty classic relationship disagreements. I remember Hannah saying something that really stuck with me – she felt like she only started being seen as an equal partner when she began contributing equally to the relationship. It’s such a relatable point about fairness and partnership, isn’t it?

Everything fell apart when Hannah realized she didn’t want to marry Nick. He described the split as incredibly painful, calling it one of the worst moments of his life.

Since then, Hannah has admitted the show forced her to do some self-introspection.

She recently shared that she’s been reflecting on herself and identified areas for improvement. Speaking on the The Viall Files podcast, she explained that while she’s always been straightforward, she realizes her communication style can be harsh. She now understands that how you say something is just as important as what you say.

Taylor and Garrett immediately connected, feeling like a perfect match – almost as if it was fate. They did experience a difficult moment when Taylor discovered Garrett had responded to a message from a former girlfriend, but Garrett claims he quickly clarified his engagement and ended the conversation. After that, their relationship blossomed, becoming a memorable part of the Love Is Blind story.

The pair were still married at the Love Is Blind reunion in October 2024.

I still can’t believe it! Marissa and Ramses were clearly going to win, everyone thought so! They seemed so perfect, but then… Ramses just called off the wedding! Can you believe it? He had second thoughts at the very last minute! It’s absolutely heartbreaking, I was so invested in their relationship!

After a heartfelt conversation, Marissa told her fiancé, “I see a wonderful future with you, and I want to marry you.” He replied, simply, “I know falling in love always carries a risk, and I accept that.”

He acknowledged that their disagreements—like their differing views on the military—could be too significant to overcome. He explained that, based on his own marriage and what he’s learned from others, love isn’t always enough for a successful relationship. Other factors need to be compatible as well.

Marissa tried to remain composed, but once she realized the relationship was truly over, she started crying. She told him, “I wish you hadn’t come here,” expressing her confusion and hurt. “I was so certain about us, and you weren’t? It’s awful – I really wanted you to pick me.” She also said that this was the worst day of her life.

Tyler and Ashley were popular with viewers as their relationship developed smoothly. However, things became complicated when Tyler revealed he had three children, a revelation Ashley referred to unkindly. Online, people are debating the extent of Tyler’s role as a father, but he hasn’t spoken publicly about it.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe it! After all that drama, by the October 2024 reunion, Ashley and Tyler actually worked things out! Not only did they reconnect, but they fell in love and got MARRIED! I seriously screamed when I found out – they’re perfect together!

“These past two months have been incredible and have completely changed our lives,” Tyler shared, sitting with Ashley after their wedding. “Now, we’re so excited to begin the rest of our lives together.”

However, Ashley later shared that the pair had called it quits following over one year of marriage.

In a statement released in January 2025, she announced that she and Tyler have separated and are divorcing. She explained that after careful consideration, they realized they were growing apart and couldn’t continue their marriage, despite her hopes for a more open and understanding relationship.

Alex and Tim appeared to resolve their big disagreement while they were in Mexico, and their relationship seemed stronger than before when they returned to Washington, D.C. Things got even better when Tim had a heartfelt conversation with Alex’s father, which suggested a promising future for them.

After Alex met Tim’s family, they had another fight, and Tim broke off their engagement, telling Alex he never wanted to see her again. Since then, both Alex and Tim have publicly shared their sides of the story, with Alex clarifying that the breakup wasn’t a joint decision.

Chelsea and Jimmy had a rocky start to the season with some arguments, but they seemed to resolve their differences during a fun date at an amusement park just before their wedding.

Jimmy ended his engagement with Chelsea, leaving her shocked and in tears, as he was ready to move on from their turbulent relationship.

Jimmy confessed to Chelsea during their date, “I’m deeply in love with you and really want a relationship, but I don’t see marriage in our future. I just can’t commit to that.”

He said they were simplifying a complicated situation, which had previously involved five or six major, personally upsetting issues. One of those issues was Chelsea revealing Jimmy’s secret about a past relationship with a friend.

After one last argument about their past relationships, Chelsea finally left, crying, and said, “I really thought we had a chance.”

The pair were both single during the March 2024 reunion.

Clay was reluctant to get married because of his father’s past infidelity, but AD comforted him, assuring him they could overcome any challenges together, and things seemed good between them.

When it came time to get married, Clay surprised AD by calling off the wedding at the altar. He explained that he wasn’t ready and felt it wouldn’t be fair to go through with it.

Cue the shock.

He told AD he would handle the work and they would face this together. He emphasized that he wasn’t ready for marriage, and she deserved someone who was. He explained he wouldn’t commit unless he could give her his all, and he wasn’t at that point yet, so he couldn’t say yes right now.

Let me tell you, sometimes you reach a point where everything just clicks, and you realize you’ve been investing energy into something that isn’t serving you. I recently spoke with someone – let’s call her AD – who had that moment. She was so overwhelmed, she actually broke down in tears, and just powerfully declared that the relationship had simply been a waste of her precious time. It was a really raw, honest moment, and a reminder that we all deserve to spend our time on things that truly fulfill us.

Clay explained that both financial and emotional connections were major factors in his decision to leave. He confessed, “I had to ask myself if I was still a husband, and the answer was no. I also realized I wasn’t truly in love anymore.”

At the reunion, Clay admitted he regretted how things ended with AD and hoped they could try dating again, but AD didn’t reveal whether she’d be open to the idea.

AD admitted she went on a few dates with her costar, Matthew Duliba, after they finished filming, but they are no longer dating.

She announced in May 2025 she’s expecting her first baby with fiancé Ollie Sutherland.

Amy and Johnny were the only couple from season six to get married, and their wedding was beautiful! They also blended their families together wonderfully – Amy’s father even told Johnny’s sister that he now feels like he has several daughters.

As for Johnny, he too declared at his reception that his father-in-law was his “new dad.”

They are still married.

Brittany and Kenneth’s relationship began passionately, but it didn’t last after they faced everyday life again.

Brittany explained to Life & Style that things changed once they returned to Charlotte after filming. She felt they had a very strong connection while in the pods, but that passion faded somewhat once they were back in the real world.

Brittany and her former fiancé have stayed friends. At a recent get-together, she explained that even though their romantic relationship ended, they still share a deep and lasting connection.

Laura and Jeramey’s engagement ended abruptly when Laura discovered Jeramey had reconnected with a fellow castmate, Sarah Ann Bick, while they were out socializing. Following a heated argument, Laura ended things with him.

But instead of that, he went off to ride jet skis with Sarah Ann.

At the reunion in March 2024, Jeramey shared that he and Sarah Ann had been casually dating for about a year, starting after the show finished filming, but they are no longer together.

Laura is dating someone else, who she did not identify at the reunion.

Despite overcoming challenges like Izzy’s initial connection with Johnie Maraist and Stacy’s insistence on a certain standard of living (she really didn’t want paper plates!), Stacy ultimately decided not to marry Izzy because he wasn’t truthful about his financial history.

Even though Stacy didn’t go through with the wedding, she still wanted to stay with Izzy, who was heartbroken.

“We’re at different spots,” he told her. “It really breaks my heart.”

Stacy appreciated Izzy helping her become more open with her feelings, but she wasn’t sure about a long-term future with him. She said she needed to be completely certain before committing to a lifetime together, and ‘fairly certain’ just wasn’t enough.

Izzy is now dating surgical assistant Shelby Webb.
