
Pokémon Go’s latest event, Pokopia, is here to brighten up your gameplay! It introduces two new Ditto forms with special costumes, a bunch of Timed Research tasks to complete, and increased bonuses when you spin PokéStops.
To celebrate the launch of Pokémon Pokopia, a special event is happening now! Trainers can catch Ditto wearing hats – and even shiny versions of these hat-wearing Pokémon! There’s also a unique background available for a limited time.
The fun continues with more Pokémon appearing in the wild, three-star raids, special research tasks, Collection Challenges, new stickers, and a free avatar item.

When is the Pokémon Go Pokopia event?
The Pokémon Go Pokopia Celebration event began on March 10th and will run until 8 PM local time on March 16th. Like all Pokémon Go events, the times are based on your local time zone, so no conversions are needed.
What’s new in the Pokémon Go Pokopia event?
The biggest news for the Pokémon Go Pokopia event is the arrival of Ditto wearing both a hat and a cap! You’ll be able to find both versions during the event, and they can even be Shiny or have a special event background. Just like regular Ditto, these costumed Pokémon will disguise themselves as other Pokémon in the wild, so it pays to watch carefully for them!
Currently, in Pokémon Go, the spawned Pokémon that can be a Ditto in disguise are:
- Bulbasaur
- Charmander
- Combee
- Drilbur
- Goomy
- Hitmonchan
- Marill
- Pikachu
- Scyther
- Squirtle
- Timburr
Pokémon Go Pokopia Timed Research tasks and rewards

A special Timed Research is available during Pokémon Go’s Pokopia Celebration, but you need to complete it by 8pm local time on March 16th to get all the rewards – after that, it’s gone! Completing the research will give you 10,000 XP and 10 Pokopia stickers.

Pokémon Go Pokopia Collection Challenge rewards

During the Pokopia event, Pokémon Go has two special challenges focused on catching Pokémon. You need to finish both of these challenges by 8 PM local time on March 16th to get the rewards and make progress towards a special medal.

Pokémon Go Pokopia Field Research tasks and rewards
During the event, spinning PokéStops might reward you with special Field Research. Once you claim these tasks, you can complete them at any time, even after the event ends.
Here are the Field Research tasks and rewards:
- Catch 5 Pokémon — 3 Poké Balls, 3 Razz Berries, or 1,000 Stardust
- Catch 10 Pokémon — Hitmonchan, Sudowoodo, or Scyther encounter
- Catch a Ditto — 1 Rare Candy
- Explore 1km — Gulpin, Marill, or Pikachu encounter
- Spin 5 PokéStops or Gyms — Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle encounter
- Win 3 raids — Lapras, Snorlax, or Dragonite encounter
Pokémon Go Pokopia wild spawns

The following Pokémon are appearing more often in the wild during the Pokopia event:
- Bulbasaur
- Charmander
- Combee
- Drilbur

- Squirtle
- Sudowoodo
- Timburr
- Zorua
The official Pokémon Go event will feature more chances to find Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, Sudowoodo, and Zorua in the wild. Lucky players might even encounter their shiny versions!
Currently, Drilbur is the only Pokémon appearing during the Pokopia event that hasn’t been released in its shiny form.
Pokémon Go Pokopia raids
There are three event-themed Pokémon in Three-Star Raids during the Pokopia Celebration event:
- Lapras
- Snorlax
- Dragonite
The event page notes that you might encounter these raid bosses as Shiny Pokémon, or with a special background related to the event, if you’re fortunate.
Pokémon Go Pokopia event bonuses
The Pokopia Celebration bonuses are all geared towards getting out and spinning stops:
- 2x XP for spinning PokéStops
- 10x XP for spinning a PokéStop for the first time
- Increased chance to encounter Shiny Sudowoodo and Shiny Zorua
This event is especially great for players who are trying to gain XP and also want to catch the new costume version of Ditto.
Avatar item and stickers
During the event, a new free item, the Ditto Eye Mask, is available in the in-game shop, and it will continue to be available even after the event is over. You can get event-themed stickers by spinning PokéStops and Gyms, opening Gifts, and completing Timed Research tasks.
Can Ditto wearing a hat and Ditto wearing a cap be Shiny?
During the Pokémon Go Pokopia Celebration, both of the new costumed Ditto forms can be found as Shiny Pokémon! The official announcement also states they might appear with a special event-themed background, making them even more desirable for collectors if you’re lucky enough to find one.
