There’s been a lot of talk about a potential new DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and fans are eagerly awaiting an official announcement from CD Projekt RED. In the meantime, the company has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, released in September 2023 to great acclaim and strong sales, will be its last expansion for that game.
The game developers announced on Twitter that they don’t intend to release any more downloadable content or expansions. They promised to let fans know if that changes. However, they didn’t respond to a request to share the same information on their The Witcher account.
As of May 2025, the expansion Phantom Liberty has sold 10 million copies, which is remarkable considering the main game has sold over 35 million. CD Projekt RED has consistently updated the game, partnering with Virtuos to add features like CrystalCoat, allowing players to customize their vehicles. A much-requested feature, a subway system, has also been added to the game.
Fans hoping for more content will need to wait for Project Orion, often referred to as Cyberpunk 2. Currently, there’s no confirmed release date for the game. It’s set in a new city that creator Mike Pondsmith describes as a twisted version of Chicago, and it may include multiplayer – a feature originally planned for the first game but cut before its release.
However, things could still change. There’s a possibility it will follow a similar path to The Witcher 3, which is reportedly getting new downloadable content in May that ties into the upcoming Witcher 4.
Whether it’s a hit or not remains to be seen, but if you haven’t tried Cyberpunk 2077 yet, it’s now included with Game Pass on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
We have no plans for additional DLCs or expansions. If anything changes, we will inform you all!
