The Best Power Type Monsties In Monster Hunter Stories 3

Most people appreciate strong attacks, and sometimes simply being powerful is enough to overcome more complicated strategies. However, power isn’t the only factor – speed can often defeat brute strength. This is especially true in the battle system of Monster Hunter Stories 3.

Each monster in the game has a basic attack they automatically use when they run out of energy. We’ll now focus on the strongest monsters that specialize in Power attacks.

9.

Rathalos And Variants

You start the game with Ratha as a member of your team, and you won’t see another Rathalos until you get to Serathis. Luckily, the Rathalos you find there are similar in strength and abilities to Ratha, so you don’t need to swap them out. However, Rathalos you encounter in the wild can sometimes develop different traits.

Ratha is already a strong and well-rounded Monstie, but Dreadking Rathalos takes things to the next level. It trades some defense for increased attack power and health, and gains a range of impressive skills, making it a truly formidable opponent.

8.

Thunderlord Zinogre

Unlocking Thunderlord Zinogre takes dedication. You’ll first need to rescue Mizutsune, then place both Mizutsune and Zinogre in the same habitat and raise Zinogre’s Ecosystem rank all the way to S. It’s a lengthy undertaking, but the effort is worth it – Thunderlord Zinogre is incredibly powerful.

Thunderlords, similar to other powerful monster types, have a surprisingly low defense. However, they make up for it with the highest attack power in the game, a huge amount of health, and impressive speed. Combined with their strong skills, they’re among the most formidable Monsties you can find.

7.

Diablos And Variants

Diablos has always been a fearsome opponent in the main Diablo games, known for its incredible speed and power. Diablo Immortal faithfully captures this, giving it both extremely high speed and strength – matching the traditional Diablos.

There are also two more variations, called Black and Bloodbath. Both reduce Defense to increase Attack, and Bloodbath also gives a bit of extra Health. While they’re used in different ways, all these forms are surprisingly quick and incredibly strong.

6.

Brachydios

You’ll find Brachydios in Azuria, but their eggs don’t spawn there. You’ll need to travel to Serathis to hatch one yourself, and after seeing their stats, you’ll quickly understand why!

Using a Paintball against a Brachydios in Azuria will make it run away after you defeat it, allowing you to obtain its egg sooner than normally possible.

Brachydios doesn’t excel in Defense or Speed, but it makes up for it with very high HP and Attack power. It’s also quite resistant to status effects, and many of its attacks can inflict Blastblight, adding even more damage to enemies.

5.

Garangolm

Garangolm lives in the Canalta Timberlands and is unusually tough – it has incredibly high Defense and HP compared to most monsters in the game.

Garangolm is exceptionally durable, with very few monsters in the game able to match its high defense and health. While its speed and attack power are average, its incredible ability to withstand damage makes it a valuable tank against strong opponents.

4.

Gravios And Black Gravios

Few monsters are as heavily armored as Garangolm, but certain types of Gravios come close. While Gravios are slower and deal less damage, they actually have even more defense and health than Garangolm.

Gravios and Black Gravios are very similar, but focus on different strengths. Gravios excels in defense, while Black Gravios has a lot of health and a bit more attack power.

3.

Espinas

Espinas is a frightening monster in the main Monster Hunter games because its attacks can cause almost any status ailment. In Monster Hunter Stories 3, it’s scary for a different reason: until it gets angry, it completely resists all types of elemental damage.

Espinas is also very strong statistically, and its natural resistances make it incredibly durable. While its physical defense isn’t the best, its high health helps it stay alive.

2.

Deviljho

Deviljho is a notoriously powerful monster, the subject of many legends. Beyond its already immense strength, it possesses the ability to push itself even further, becoming unbelievably strong.

Similar to how you can encounter Brachydios sooner, you can also trigger a Deviljho appearance earlier by using a Paintball to force it to leave the Mt. Canalta area in Canalta Timberland.

Despite having weak defense and being slow, these characters boast a lot of health and incredibly powerful attacks, which can be further enhanced by their numerous skills.

1.

Grimclaw Tigrex

Grimclaw Tigrex is the ultimate high-risk, high-reward monster in the game. First, you’ll need to restore the regular Tigrex to the ecosystem, and then complete a challenging questline to unlock the Grimclaw variant.

These monsters boast incredibly high Attack power, but have very low Defense – making them vulnerable. They also have solid HP and are quite fast, meaning your strategy should focus on dealing damage quickly before they can defeat Grimclaw. However, their attacks are extremely powerful when they land.
