Meet the Putmans Stars Speak Out 6 Months After Fatal Car Crash

The Putman brothers are remembering an unimaginable tragedy.

Six months after a car accident tragically took the lives of Bill “Papa” Putman, Barb “Neenee” Putman, and Megan Putman on September 26th, Blake Putman – father to Noah (15), Lulu (13), and Alena (11), with his late wife Megan – provided an update on how his family is doing.

Blake, 37, was driving when a semi-truck hit his car. In an interview with People magazine published on March 13th, he said he remembers everything that happened, including the impact, being on the road, and details from inside the car.

The star of Meet the Putmans remembered someone knocking on her door, and she expressed feeling grateful and a bit puzzled about how she ended up where she is now.

Blake was driving one of three cars carrying his family – including his parents, wife, children, and his brother Brandon Putman’s 11-year-old daughter, Gia – when they were returning home from a football game for Noah. According to the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office, a semi-truck ran a stop sign about a mile from their home in Caro, Michigan, resulting in three fatalities.

Blake remembered being held by Megan when the crash happened, and his father was asleep at the time. Sadly, his mother, father, and Megan all died instantly at the scene. The medical examiner confirmed there was nothing anyone could have done to save them.

Blake sustained several injuries, including a broken nose, cuts, and fractures in his neck.

In another car, Brandon and his wife Kacie Putman witnessed the entire incident.

Kacie said the only thought she had was a desperate plea: ‘Dear God, please save my children.’ And thankfully, she believes God answered. ‘He saved all of them,’ she added.

The brothers’ children all survived the crash, but they were seriously hurt. Lulu broke her pelvis, Alena fractured her collarbone, and both Noah and Gia suffered brain injuries.

I’m so incredibly happy to share that Noah is doing amazingly well! After a tough two weeks in the ICU and then two months of hard work in rehab, he’s back in school and even playing the sports he loves – both football and wrestling! It’s just fantastic to see him thriving again.

Gia’s recovery has been particularly challenging. Since the accident, she’s had ten brain surgeries and was recently home in January. However, she still needs a tracheostomy – a surgical opening in the neck to assist with breathing, as explained by the Mayo Clinic.

Brandon, 39, recalled taking Noah out of the car, initially fearing the injury would leave lasting effects. He was amazed by how quickly Noah recovered and became even stronger than before. His daughter, Gia, experienced a similar remarkable recovery.

After the tragic event, Brandon explained that the family has been supporting each other to cope with the hardship.

He explained that their family always supports each other, helping those who are struggling. He was grateful to his father for creating that strong family bond and instilling the values that guide them.
