Paramount and Hasbro are passing on a Max Landis G.I. Joe film after numerous sexual assault claims.
Variety reports that the G.I. Joe movie script John Landis was developing has been shelved. This came as a surprise, as abandoning a potentially very successful franchise is unusual for a studio. Sources haven’t shared specific reasons why Paramount and Hasbro decided to stop production.
As a big fan of action movies, I was really disappointed to hear about the potential G.I. Joe movie being shelved. It seems like things changed after Paramount bought Warner Bros. Discovery and started focusing on different projects. While some people are suggesting the accusations against director John Landis played a role in the cancellation, it’s probably not that simple. Honestly, it sounds like a bunch of factors came into play, and the project was cut for multiple reasons. It’s a shame, but sometimes these things just don’t work out.
