Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa are truly unfiltered on Live.
The former Riverdale star explained why he occasionally uses their talk show to bring up tough topics.
Mark shared with Entertainment Tonight on the Oscars red carpet that he often uses appearances on talk shows as a way to discuss difficult topics. He explained that being on a show with his wife of 29 years gives him a sense of security and makes it easier to open up.
Kelly jokingly asked, “Why talk about this in private when I can share it with everyone?”
Despite attending the 98th Academy Awards, the couple—parents to Michael, 28, Lola, 24, and Joaquin, 23—were already making plans to start their Monday morning early.
Mark playfully described his early morning routine for the show: “I usually wake up about fifteen minutes after it’s started, and I realize, ‘Oh, we’re live!'”
Kelly, known for previously co-hosting Live with Regis Philbin, Michael Strahan, and Ryan Seacrest, explained what she enjoys about doing the show the morning after the Oscars.
Kelly described the experience of performing as truly special. She loves stepping on stage early in the morning and connecting with the audience, knowing so much had happened there the night before. She added that they appreciate every single person who comes to the show.
The 2026 Oscars had a few unexpected winners, especially in the competitive supporting actress category. Many predicted Teyana Taylor (from One Battle After Another) or Amy Madigan (Weapons) would win, as they had both received major awards leading up to the ceremony, along with Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners). However, the Academy Award ultimately went to the 75-year-old Madigan.
Amy happily accepted the award, saying, “I’ve been getting a lot of questions from the press about how things are different after 40 years. And the difference is… I have this!” She held up the golden statuette.
