Mark Hamill has become a true icon in popular culture. He’s best known for playing Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars films, a role that made him a Hollywood legend. But he’s also a hugely successful voice actor, meaning many people have heard his voice – often without even knowing it – through countless animated shows, video games, and movies. He’s particularly famous for his portrayal of the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, which is considered by many to be the definitive version of the character. Despite his enormous impact on entertainment, Hamill rarely attends fan conventions or makes personal appearances. This makes his upcoming event a particularly special occasion for his fans.
Fan Expo HQ, the company behind the world’s biggest comic conventions, is bringing a special event to the Anaheim Convention Center from June 26-28, 2026. The convention will feature a visit from Mark Hamill, best known for his role as Luke Skywalker. Hamill will talk about his career and meet fans with photo opportunities and autograph signings throughout the weekend. He recently shared how much he appreciates his fans, saying, “If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be here,” emphasizing their unwavering support over the years.
Mark Hamill Has Built One of the Most Durable Careers in Hollywood

Mark Hamill is often remembered for playing Luke Skywalker, but he’s a remarkably diverse actor. After the first Star Wars films finished, he intentionally focused on theater, performing on Broadway in productions like The Elephant Man and Amadeus. These roles allowed him to showcase his acting skills in ways the popular Star Wars films didn’t. He then became famous for another iconic role: the Joker, starting with Batman: The Animated Series.
As a huge animation and voice acting fan, I always appreciated how Mark Hamill approached the Joker. Instead of just copying Jack Nicholson’s iconic performance, he created something totally new – a Joker who was both hilarious and genuinely frightening. It was such a defining take that he became the Joker for a generation, voicing the character in countless shows, movies, and even the Batman: Arkham games for over twenty years! That’s an incredible legacy. But what really struck me was his versatility. He wasn’t just a Joker guy. Whether it was the menacing Fire Lord Ozai in Avatar: The Last Airbender, the Hobgoblin in Spider-Man: The Animated Series, or the delightfully villainous Colonel Muska in the Disney dub of Castle in the Sky, he always brought something unique to every role, never relying on the same tricks. He truly understood how to embody villainy in all its forms.
