Disney Confirms Two Major Sequel Release Dates for 2028 (But Will It Be Too Late?)

For years, Disney has successfully relied on making sequels and live-action versions of its classic films. While Bob Iger was CEO, this strategy continued to work well. Disney announced release dates for two sequels at its 2026 shareholder meeting. A follow-up to the live-action Lilo & Stitch is planned for May 26, 2028—three years after the first reboot. Pixar also confirmed that Incredibles 3 will hit theaters on June 16, 2028. Disney previously reserved both of these dates for other unannounced movies.
