Netflix is adding some familiar faces to the cast of The Altruists. Hudson Williams, known for his role in Heated Rivalry, and Jennifer Grey, famous for Dirty Dancing, will both appear in the series.
This eight-episode series, starring Julia Garner and Anthony Boyle, will chronicle the story of how the cryptocurrency platform FTX rose to prominence and then collapsed.
Actor Williams, known for his recent role in the hit hockey movie Heated Rivalry, will play the character Duncan Rheingans‑Yoo.
Jennifer Grey, famous for her role as Baby in the popular 1980s film Dirty Dancing, will be playing the character Sarah Fisher Ellison.
Joining Williams and Grey in the cast are Terry Chen (known for Almost Famous) as CZ, Elizabeth Adams (from Wayward) as Hannah, Hannah Galway (The Institute) as Lucy, and William Mapother (of Lost) as Dr. Lerner.
I just read the description for this new show, and it sounds wild! It’s about Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison – these incredibly bright, driven young people who really thought they could change how the world handles money. But things went south fast, and they ended up accused of stealing billions. Apparently, it’s being called the ‘Gen Z Bonnie and Clyde’ story, which is a pretty dramatic way to put it!
Okay, so I just heard that Anna Garner is going to be playing Catherine Ellison in this new series, which is super exciting! And even better, Sam Bankman-Fried will be played by Kyle Boyle. Plus, Anna Garner’s not just acting – she’s also an executive producer on the project, alongside Graham Moore and Jacqueline Hoyt. It sounds like they’ve got a really strong team working on this.
Moore and Hoyt will both lead the creative direction of the show, and James Ponsoldt, known for directing ‘The Spectacular Now,’ will direct the first episode.

Heated Rivalry tells the story of Shane Hollander, a Canadian NHL star, and Ilya Rozanov, a Russian player, who are rivals both on and off the ice. Both men are secretly gay and fall in love with each other.
After premiering on HBO Max in the US last November and on Sky in the UK in January, the series quickly became popular around the world. It received a lot of praise for its inclusive and positive portrayal of LGBTQ+ athletes.
Jennifer Grey recently acted in Jesse Eisenberg’s film, A New Pain, and will return to her famous role in a Dirty Dancing sequel, with filming scheduled to start in late 2026.
