*Warning – contains full spoilers for Cross season 2*
Season two of Cross is now streaming on Prime Video, and the finale sets up several storylines for a possible third season.
Kayla’s history with questionable dealings and her ongoing relationship with Bobby Trey are concerning. Meanwhile, Sampson has the opportunity to connect with his father, but the most significant development is Alex’s departure from the police force, driven by a loss of faith in the American justice system.
Will there be a third season to continue the story, or does this mark the end for Aldis Hodge’s character?
Read on for everything you need to know about Cross season 3.
Will there be a Cross season 3?

It’s currently unclear if “Cross” will have a third season, as it hasn’t been officially renewed yet. But there’s no need to worry just yet – we expect to hear an update about its future soon.
The season 2 finale definitely leaves the door open for more, with several storylines unresolved. Alex’s departure from the police seems temporary, and it’s likely he’ll be pulled back into the force before long.
The show’s creator, Ben Watkins, has hinted at a plan for its future, suggesting he’s already outlined the next two seasons, at least in a general way. He refers to this as a ‘four-year plan’.
Show creator Jeffrey Watkins hopes the series will run for ten seasons. However, he’s already mapped out a four-year story arc, planning to explore themes and characters inspired by the Alex Cross book series and give them the recognition they deserve.
I’m currently working on new stories, but I plan to connect these characters eventually. I’ve been subtly hinting at those future connections as I write.
We will update this page as and when we get any news regarding the future of Cross.
When would a potential Cross season 3 be released?

We don’t have a firm release date for Cross season 3 yet, but we expect it to follow a similar schedule to the gap between seasons 1 and 2.
The gap between the first two seasons was just over a year – 15 months, specifically. Assuming the third season follows a similar timeline, we can anticipate it premiering around late spring or early summer 2027.
This is currently just our understanding of the situation, and we’ll share any new information on this page as soon as we have it.
Who would star in a potential Cross season 3?

If the Cross series were to come back, it would definitely need Aldis Hodge to reprise his role as the main character, Alex Cross.

We anticipate the return of John Sampson, played by Isaiah Mustafa, alongside the main character. Additionally, we expect to see Alona Tal as Kayla Craig and Samantha Walkes as Elle Monteiro reprise their roles.
Here’s who we anticipate seeing again if Cross gets a third season:
- Aldis Hodge as Alex Cross
- Isaiah Mustafa as John Sampson
- Alona Tal as Kayla Craig
- Samantha Walkes as Elle Monteiro
- Juanita Jennings as Regina ‘Nana Mama’ Cross
- Caleb Elijah as Damon Cross
- Melody Hurd as Janelle ‘Jannie’ Cross
- Johnny Ray Gill as Bobby Trey
- Jennifer Wigmore as Chief Anderson
