He’s constantly working with the San Francisco PD, lending a hand on all kinds of cases, much like Holmes and Scotland Yard. But what really makes the show work, for me, isn’t just watching him battle his own demons. It’s the heartbreaking mystery surrounding his wife’s murder and his relentless, personal quest to find out what happened – a case that completely shattered his life and drives everything he does.

The character of Monk was initially inspired by Inspector Clouseau from The Pink Panther films. But as the show developed, Monk evolved into a distinctly different character – generally seen as much more kind and understanding.

John Luther Forms a Personal Obsession With Every Case He Works

Luther is a British crime drama that originally aired on BBC One from 2010 to 2019. The show features Idris Elba as DCI John Luther, a detective who begins his career in the Serious Crime Unit before transferring to the newly established Serious and Serial Crime Unit.

Jessica’s knack for solving mysteries grew, and she began assisting with murder investigations far beyond her hometown, even traveling across the country and internationally. As a mystery writer, she cleverly uses her understanding of plot and character to find clues, uncover motives, and narrow down the list of potential suspects.

Lieutenant Columbo Might be the Most Popular TV Detective to Grace the Small Screen

Columbo, starring Peter Falk as Lieutenant Columbo, first aired in 1971 and ran for seven seasons until 1978. Due to its enduring popularity, the show continued with three more seasons between 1989 and 1990, and new episodes were released as specials until 2003.

Throughout the series, Columbo’s first name is never spoken. However, viewers sometimes catch brief glimpses of his police identification. I think a lot of people get the wrong impression of him – they see him as distant, slow, or just not very bright. Honestly, that’s what makes him so brilliant at his job!
