AMC+ and Shudder have announced the release date for the new season of The Terror, titled Devil in Silver. Fans can now find out when they can start watching.
Okay, so I’m really excited about the next season of The Terror. I heard Dan Stevens – you know, from Downton Abbey – is going to be the lead, and it’s officially hitting AMC+ and Shudder on May 7th, 2026. Can’t wait!
The new season, based on Victor LaValle’s novel (The Changeling), will feature Stevens as Pepper, a blue-collar worker who is mistakenly committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital after a series of unfortunate events and a quick temper. The hospital holds those society has chosen to ignore, according to an official description of the show.
He’ll face challenges in his new location, including difficult patients, doctors hiding dark truths, and possibly even a confrontation with the Devil.
Pepper struggles to survive in a terrifying and deceptive world. He discovers that escaping New Hyde means confronting the being that feeds on the pain within its walls, but this confrontation could reveal that his greatest struggles are internal.
Joining Steven in the new series, The Terror: Devil in Silver, will be Judith Light (known for Before), CCH Pounder (Rustin), Aasif Mandvi (Evil), John Benjamin Hickey (The Big C), Stephen Root (Barry), Michael Aronov (The Americans), and Marin Ireland (Sneaky Pete).

The cast also includes Chinaza Uche, known for her role in Silo, Hampton Fluker (Shades of Blue), Hayward Leach (Tom Swift), and Philip Ettinger (First Reformed).
Ridley Scott executive produces the series, and LaValle leads the creative direction alongside co-showrunner Chris Cantwell, known for his work on ‘Catch Fire’.
In July 2024, it was revealed that Stevens would be the lead actor in the third season of The Terror, titled ‘Devil in Silver.’ He expressed his excitement about joining the show at the time.
He went on to describe the series as a haunting blend of psychological horror and intense drama, promising a truly captivating experience. Victor LaValle, Christopher Cantwell, and the entire creative team have built a uniquely unsettling world filled with dark forces and hidden dangers.
“I look forward to delivering something epic that will echo through the halls like an iron bell.”
The first season of the AMC show The Terror debuted in 2018. It tells the story of a British naval crew trapped in the Arctic ice while trying to find a sea route through the Northwest Passage.
In 2019, the show returned for a second season, titled The Terror: Infamy. This season told the story of a terrifying, shape-shifting creature that haunted a Japanese American internment camp during World War II.
The Terror: Devil in Silver will premiere on 7 May, 2026, on AMC+ and Shudder.
