Taylor Frankie Paul’s Ex Dakota Mortensen Files Restraining Order

Dakota Mortensen is taking legal action against Taylor Frankie Paul.

Following the online release of a video showing a fight from 2023, Dakota requested a restraining order against the star of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. She claims he physically abused her during two separate incidents last month.

According to court records obtained by TopMob News, a 33-year-old filed a protective order on March 19th in Utah. However, documents from TMZ show the incidents that led to the order happened on February 23rd and 24th.

TopMob News has contacted Taylor and Dakota’s representatives for comment on the filing, but they haven’t responded yet.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the first fight happened while Dakota was visiting Taylor and their 2-year-old son at her house. Dakota claims Taylor choked him, pushed him into a window, and hit him. He also stated that Taylor’s unstable emotional state woke their son and that she threatened self-harm.

Dakota claims he dialed 911 seeking assistance, but says Taylor forced him to lie to the operator, claiming their son was ill just to get Taylor to end the conversation.

According to TMZ, Dakota said that when he tried to get their son back to sleep, Taylor allegedly removed the blankets and continued acting aggressively. Concerned for their safety, Dakota then took their son and returned to his own home.

Oh my god, the documents are so disturbing! Apparently, after they argued at Taylor’s place, she just completely lost it! They say she threw Dakota’s phone at the wall, and then actually blocked him from leaving! Like, physically wouldn’t let him walk out the door! And it gets worse – when he tried to leave anyway, she followed him and… and she attacked him! They say she grabbed his face and squeezed it, threw a drink all over him, and even hit his car! It’s just… I can’t believe she would do something like that. It’s horrifying, honestly.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, he claims he couldn’t leave safely while the incident was happening, and their child was inside the house under her supervision as dictated by their custody arrangement. He states he pushed her away from him to protect himself, and she ended up hitting the passenger seat.

Taylor later reportedly texted him, saying she needed medical help for a bloody nose. However, Dakota believed this was a way to lure him back and stop him from contacting the police, according to court documents.

Following an incident where Dakota reported injuries, he expressed serious worries about his and his child’s safety. He then asked the court for temporary custody of their son, pointing to Taylor’s 2023 arrest and subsequent guilty plea for aggravated assault.

According to TMZ, Dakota requested that Taylor be prohibited from drinking alcohol or using drugs while spending time with her.

Taylor Swift’s representatives haven’t officially responded to the restraining order, but they previously spoke out about a disturbing video, calling it a deliberate effort to damage her reputation and a way to deflect attention from Dakota’s actions.

With the investigation into an alleged domestic assault still underway—and production on season five of Secret Wives of Mormon Wives currently paused—ABC has decided to cancel Taylor’s upcoming season of The Bachelorette so they can support her and her family during this difficult time.

Taylor, who shares two children with her ex-partner, Tate Paul, has released a statement through her representative. In it, she expresses gratitude for ABC’s support while focusing on her family’s safety. The statement reveals Taylor has endured years of significant mental and physical abuse and threats, but is now finding the courage to confront her abuser and protect herself and her children from further harm.
