DC Studios shared some posters that were created for Superman but never actually used in the movie’s marketing – and many fans think they would have been a great addition to the 2025 campaign. The posters were designed to build excitement for the film starring David Corenswet and to introduce James Gunn’s take on the DC hero and his new DC Universe (DCU). Some posters highlighted each character individually, while others showed the main characters together.
DC Studios shared five concept posters that weren’t used in the new Superman movie. The posters feature different designs for Superman, Lois Lane, Mister Terrific, and Guy Gardner. One poster specifically highlights David Corenswet as Superman, showing him in a strong, traditional pose and looking determined.

Someone else shared a picture with a similar pose to Superman, but theirs featured a more striking view of Earth from outer space as the background.

This alternate poster for Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, which wasn’t used, shows her working in the Daily Planet newsroom. It’s different from her first poster and intentionally highlights her skills as a brave and smart reporter.

Mister Terrific’s promotional poster features a vibrant red design and highlights his signature T-spheres. It showcases exciting moments from his battles alongside Superman.

The Green Lantern poster featuring Guy Gardner, with Nathan Fillion, really showcases his confident and playful personality, and highlights how he uses his power ring.

I was really struck by these character designs – they felt like individualized posters for the main characters, but they had so much more impact than typical promotional material. Honestly, seeing them, I kept thinking they would have made amazing official posters – a lot of fans agree with me on that!
This isn’t the first time a discarded Superman poster has surfaced. Back in February, DC Studios shared a fantastic theatrical Superman poster that featured a well-balanced design with all the main characters.
James Gunn directs the new film Superman, which centers on Clark Kent’s journey to juggle his everyday life with the demands of being Earth’s hero. The movie features David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, and a talented supporting cast. Superman hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
These Superman Posters Should’ve Given the Spotlight More
These new Superman posters are a big improvement over previous ones because they focus more on the character and create a personal connection, without feeling cluttered. They could have really gotten fans more excited and invested in the movie before it came out last summer.
James Gunn and his team did a great job building excitement for the movie with their poster releases. However, they could have created even more buzz and kept the momentum going by using posters that were more personalized and revealed deeper details about each character. The posters that weren’t used actually fit perfectly with Gunn’s overall artistic style, not just for Superman, but for the entire DC Universe he’s building.
