Toyotarou has confirmed he’s working hard to revive the DBS manga for fans.
Toyotarou, the artist behind the Dragon Ball Super manga, recently updated his X (formerly Twitter) profile with a promising message. His new bio now states, “Everything is for the return of the series,” which is the first official indication that the manga will continue after a year-long break.
Toyotarou’s New Comment Confirms the Future of the Dragon Ball Super Manga
Toyotarou recently updated their X bio with both the original Japanese and English versions of a statement to avoid misunderstandings. However, the Japanese version provides a clearer understanding of what Toyotarou meant. Venixys, a popular Dragon Ball translator, shared on X that a more accurate translation of the statement is: “It’s all to allow the series to continue.”
Toyotarou recently updated his online biography while the Dragon Ball Super manga has been on break since February 2025. This break began after Toyotarou finished the final chapters for Volume 24 of Dragon Ball Super. The future of the manga was already uncertain, as the series creator, Akira Toriyama, sadly passed away in 2024.
Ever since chapter 104 came out, there’s been no news about when chapter 105 of Dragon Ball Super will be released. The only hint fans have received from V-Jump editor Victory Uchida is that it will be sometime in 2025.
Toyotarou has consistently been the public face of the Dragon Ball Super manga. He’s regularly appeared with Uchida on official Dragon Ball livestreams and continues to share his artwork through his ongoing ‘Toyotarou Tries to Draw’ series.
With the return of the Dragon Ball Super anime and Akio Iyoku now leading the project at Capsule Corp, it looks like the issues surrounding ownership and creative control might finally be resolved. Toyotarou recently emphasized that all efforts are focused on bringing the series back, and this announcement came just a month after the anime adaptation shown at Dragon Ball‘s 40th anniversary celebration. The Galactic Patrol Arc is the first storyline Toyotarou solely wrote, with Toriyama providing editorial support.
Although a release date hasn’t been announced yet, production is underway on Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol Arc. Fans can look forward to Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, an anime remake, which is set to premiere in Fall 2026. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is based on the manga created by Toriyama and Toyotarou, giving fans optimism that the manga will continue.
