PlayStation Network (PSN) is now fully restored for both PS5 and PS4 users. The outage, which lasted about two hours, is over, and the PlayStation Service Status page confirms all services are operational.
Update #1 [Sat 21st Mar 2026, 9:10pm]:
Sony knows about the problems causing PlayStation Network (PSN) to go down. Their service status page now says some features, especially gaming and social aspects, aren’t working properly.

It’s a bit unfortunate that PlayStation Network is experiencing an outage just after reports surfaced that Sony plans to retire the PSN brand. Users around the world are reporting that the network is down on Saturday, and both PS5 and PS4 consoles are showing as offline.
DownDetector is showing a sharp increase in reports of problems with PlayStation Network (PSN), with over 5,500 users reporting connection issues in the last hour.
Even though users are experiencing problems and reporting outages, the official PlayStation Service Status page currently states that everything is working normally.
