Steam Deck Users Warned About Playing #1 Selling Steam Game

Steam Deck owners should be aware that the top-selling game on Steam isn’t running smoothly on their devices. While the game can be played from beginning to end on the Steam Deck, its compatibility is currently listed as ‘Unknown’ on Steam, and performance is poor. Players on Steam Deck would be best off waiting for updates, as the game is very demanding and likely to continue causing issues on the hardware.

Currently, Crimson Desert is the most popular game on Steam, surpassing titles like Slay the Spire 2, Marathon, Death Stranding 2, Resident Evil Requiem, and Ready or Not in sales. It’s even more downloaded than all the free games available on the platform. While many players want to try it on the Steam Deck, experts at sites like Steam Deck Gaming and SteamDeckHQ are recommending against it due to significant performance problems and poor optimization on the handheld device.

Steam Deck Support in the Future?

Pearly Abyss hasn’t announced whether Crimson Desert will work on the Steam Deck, which doesn’t suggest support is coming quickly. The game also has performance problems, particularly on consoles, so fixing those issues will probably be their first priority. Because of this, we don’t anticipate Crimson Desert being officially supported on the Steam Deck for the foreseeable future.

If the Steam Deck is going to officially support the game, Pearl Abyss needs to significantly improve its performance. Currently, even with the lowest settings, the game struggles to maintain a consistent 30 frames per second on the device. During intense moments, the frame rate often drops into the teens. While some players might be able to tolerate these drops, they’ll still have to sacrifice resolution to enjoy the game’s visuals.
