A new Mario game, available only on the Nintendo Switch 2, was the top-selling game on Nintendo platforms in February. It outsold popular titles like Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and Resident Evil Requiem. Notably, this Mario game achieved the top spot based on physical sales alone, as Nintendo doesn’t share its digital sales figures with the tracking firm Circana.
Last month, Mario Tennis Fever on the Nintendo Switch was the best-selling game based on retail sales. Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Resident Evil Generation Pack, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Resident Evil Requiem followed in that order. Interestingly, two Resident Evil titles made it into the top six. When combined, sales of Resident Evil Generation Pack and Resident Evil Requiem would place the Capcom game at number two for the month. This is especially noteworthy considering Resident Evil Requiem was only released near the end of February. Mario Tennis Fever, having launched earlier in the month, had a longer period to accumulate sales.
The Power of Mario
We enjoyed Mario Tennis Fever when it came out last month, and it received a respectable 77 on Metacritic. However, that’s not a top score, particularly for a Nintendo game. Generally, Mario sports titles perform around this level, and Mario Tennis Fever confirms a pattern: no matter how well these games are made, a lot of people will still buy them.
March’s Best-Selling Game
We expect Resident Evil Requiem to sell more copies than any other game except one in March. Pokémon Pokopia is almost certain to be the best-selling game on Nintendo platforms that month, and it has a good chance of becoming the year’s best-selling exclusive Nintendo title for 2026.

If you’re planning to buy Mario Tennis Fever on the Nintendo Switch 2, it will cost you $70 – the same price as when it first came out, and likely to remain until the holidays. Considering how much the game costs, its strong sales are even more remarkable, as $70 is a significant price for a Mario Tennis title.
