The 2014 film John Wick unexpectedly became a huge success and changed the action movie genre. Its unique style and exciting fight scenes led many filmmakers to try and create similar movies. One standout example was Nobody, co-written by John Wick’s Derek Kolstad. Nobody surprised audiences by showcasing the action skills of Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk, and it was both critically and financially successful, earning $57.5 million worldwide on a $16 million budget, leading to a sequel. Nobody 2 came out last summer and, while it didn’t perform as well in theaters as the first film, it’s now gaining popularity on streaming services.
From March 9th to 15th, the movie Nobody 2 was the seventh most popular title on Netflix worldwide, earning 3.1 million views and a total of 4.6 million hours of watch time. In the United States, it reached number three on the Netflix chart. This marked the first time the film appeared in the top 10 on the streaming service. Nobody 2 was added to Netflix on March 14th, meaning it achieved these impressive numbers in just a few days.
Will There Be a Nobody 3?

Like the first Nobody film, the sequel, which came out last summer, received mostly positive reviews. While it doesn’t quite have the same impact as the original, critics still praised Bob Odenkirk’s committed performance and the exciting action scenes. Timo Tjahjanto directed Nobody 2, bringing a unique energy to the film by blending dark humor with brutal violence. The story isn’t the focus – it’s watching Odenkirk unleash his skills and take on the villains. And on that front, Nobody 2 delivers, especially with memorable fights like the one on the duck boat.
Even though Nobody 2 received a respectable 76% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it didn’t perform well in theaters, earning just $43.2 million worldwide on a $25 million budget. It debuted lower than expected, behind films that were already playing like Weapons and Freakier Friday, limiting its appeal to a small group of fans. It’s good to see more people discovering the movie now, but it does make you wonder what the future holds for the Nobody series.
Bob Odenkirk recently mentioned he has ideas for a third Nobody movie, but isn’t sure if it will happen. Unlike the John Wick films, which steadily increased in popularity and box office revenue with each installment (with the latest earning $447.1 million), Nobody‘s box office numbers have decreased. While action movie fans seem to like the series, it hasn’t become a mainstream hit. This means Universal Pictures might not want to invest in Nobody 3, especially since the second film didn’t perform as well as they hoped, particularly considering it was released during a period with few competing movies.
The popularity of Nobody 2 on Netflix doesn’t necessarily mean people would go to a movie theater to see a third film. It’s simpler for viewers to try something new when they can just stream it at home, so Netflix numbers shouldn’t be the main factor in Universal’s decision about making Nobody 3. If Bob Odenkirk has a compelling story idea – maybe one that improves on the previous films – Universal might be open to making it, as long as they can keep the production budget reasonable and ensure the film is likely to be profitable.
