Rumors suggest Capcom will announce a remake of Resident Evil – Code: Veronica this year, potentially releasing it in the first half of 2027. According to reliable leaker Dusk Golem, this remake won’t cut any content, which should please fans who were concerned about that happening in previous remakes.
However, there are a few details to keep in mind. From what I understand, Resident Evil Code Veronica hasn’t had anything removed; it’s mostly been expanded with some significant changes. It seems this Remake alters more things than previous versions, but all the enemies, locations, and key events are still present – and often expanded upon.
This update also affects Chris Redfield. As you might remember, he showed up unexpectedly in the first game. Because this is the first time we’re seeing a younger version of him created with the RE Engine, we’ve given him a larger role. However, he won’t be a central figure in the remake’s final moments.
Chris will face his own final boss battle against Wesker much earlier in the game than in the original, and will be seriously injured as a result. This will lead to Claire taking over for the remainder of the story, including the final confrontation with Alexia. This change gives Alexia a bigger role and positions her more clearly as the main character, which aligns with previous reports.
Fans worried about a remake of Code: Veronica can likely relax. The directors of the successful Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes, Kazunori Kadoi and Yasuhiro Anpo, are said to be leading the project.
We expect the story expansion for Resident Evil Requiem to be released soon, possibly even before the end of this year. The new content will likely center around Leon S. Kennedy, and Ada Wong might also be involved.
So, from what I’ve gathered, the Code Veronica remake isn‘t really cutting anything from the original. It’s more like they’re taking everything that was there and expanding on it. Apparently, it’s the remake that’s changed the most from the original game – things happen a bit differently, and they’ve really mixed things up. But don’t worry, all the enemies, locations, and big story moments you remember are still there, just…enhanced.

The game features a significant amount of content for both Chris and Claire. While Chris’s role is expanded – recognizing this is his first appearance as a younger character in the remake series – Claire also receives substantial development. It’s not just that Chris’s part is bigger; both characters have a lot going on.

The third character will finish their storyline sooner than in the original game. They’ll have their own boss fight with Wesker, which will happen earlier in the story, and will be seriously injured during it. This will lead to Claire taking over for the final sections, including the boss fight with Alexia.

Okay, so I’m super hyped for the Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake because the same team that brought us the amazing Resident Evil 2 and 4 remakes – Kazunori Kadoi and Yasuhiro Anpo – are directing it! That gives me a lot of confidence it’s going to be incredible.
