Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) recently left his controlling and abusive boyfriend, Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), but is now facing a new, difficult challenge on Coronation Street.
Theo ended the relationship earlier this month, telling Todd they weren’t a good match and should have split up much earlier. Todd, who was deeply in love with Theo, was devastated and cried as Theo left their apartment.
Theo made things difficult for Todd by insisting he pay for a birthday dinner, even though he knew Todd couldn’t afford it and it would cause him embarrassment. To make matters worse, Theo openly complained about the gift he received.
Everyone in town has been trying to get Todd dating again, and Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) even set him up on a date with a friend of hers. He wasn’t planning on dating so soon, but he figured it would be a fun night out.
Theo was enraged to see the man having a good time, and the following day, he secretly put drugs in his drink. He then put his own phone on airplane mode with the goal of making the man too sleepy to wake up for the marathon, which he was running to honor Billy Mayhew and Paul Foreman.
Theo was thrilled his plan had succeeded and excitedly told their friends he figured he’d already reached the starting location.
When they got back, the group spotted a messy-looking Todd slipping into the corner shop. Theo went after him, proudly showing off his medal and then vowing to create a story to cover up something embarrassing.

Todd was incredibly upset with himself for missing his chance and all the time he’d spent preparing. He went to the Rovers with Theo and claimed he’d been seriously ill with food poisoning. Though people felt bad for him, Todd was embarrassed when Theo dramatically put his own medal around Todd’s neck, implying he deserved it more.
As they walked back to their apartment, Theo begged Todd to give him another chance. He admitted he’d been miserable without Todd and that leaving had been a mistake.
Very sadly, Todd leapt into his arms and the two kissed passionately.
