With the Punisher already confirmed, Daredevil feels like the missing piece – he’s a crucial street-level hero in the MCU, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he shows up.
The Brand New Day Trailer Is Full of Context Clues That Suggest a Hidden MCU Hero
A strong hint that ‘Brand New Day’ is setting up a major team-up comes from the promotional image showing Spider-Man flying towards ninjas. Noticeably, there’s empty space below Spider-Man, and the enemies’ gazes don’t quite align – this echoes the iconic battle at the Statue of Liberty from the Spider-Man films, where Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men teamed up against Doctor Octopus, the Lizard, and Sandman.
Fans know the second season of the show happens before the events of the movie. That’s why Spider-Man receives a key to the city – Mayor Fisk is probably either in hiding or imprisoned. This could also explain why Spider-Man is shown fighting the Hand in jail, possibly to stop them from harming Fisk or Matt Murdock, who is also incarcerated. The upcoming third season of Daredevil: Born Again might explore a storyline where Matt is sent to prison for acting as a vigilante. The Hand’s appearance hints at Daredevil’s involvement, and he might even get a temporary leave from prison to team up with Spider-Man and fight them.

Sadie Sink being cast as Jean Grey is a big clue – it could mean Matt Murdock ends up as a lawyer defending mutants when the Mutant Saga kicks off. Plus, Sink’s also confirmed for Avengers: Secret Wars, and I doubt she’s the only Brand New Day character making the leap. If Spider-Man and Daredevil already have a history, it’ll save Secret Wars a lot of setup work when it comes to building a team of street-level heroes for that massive event.
